GMS Special Edition Custom kit in Red Sparkle/Glitter Lacquer finish. Previously owned by Sterling Campbell, has gold badges and manufacturing dates of July/August 2002 with sequential serial numbers SE0841 to SE0844. The sizes are 24/13/16/18 and the bass has an Audix D4 mic professionally installed (possibly by GMS) with a MAY XLR port on the shell. Nearly certain this kit was custom ordered for playing with David Bowie, but seems it ended up mostly used for rehearsals or as a touring backup. The condition is excellent, obviously was not used on large tours during this Bowie era Sterling was playing with the same GMS SE sizes in blue or silver? There are a few light lacquer scrapes on top of bass drum from the rack tom being above there, and some light wear to the hoops and rims. The heads are Evans Level 360 (these heads came out like a decade after the drums) and appear to have only been used on a couple dates although some heads have storage wear scrapes/dings. All the hardware, heads, rims, feet, mounts, microphone, pillow, and Tama bass hoop pad are exactly as it came to me, including the “Campbell” name written in black sharpie on neon gaff tape stuck to the bottom of the batter-side bass hoop. The drums sound BIG and amazing as they should being 8-ply Keller maple beasts. The shells are true, with no cracks or issues. I did only light tunings, inspected/dusted the beautiful bearing edges, and moved the bass pillow around slightly to get the boom I liked. Played in studio for a couple hours and no repairs were required. The microphone and XLR port are untested. Bass 24×20 (2 original GMS legs). Tom 13×9 (1 original GMS hanging mount + Gibraltar ball/socket stand mount). Floor 16×16 (3 original GMS legs). Floor 18×16 (3 original GMS legs). Evans Level 360 heads (toms G1, bass EQ4). Audix D4 bass mic with MAY XLR port. Bass pillow with velcros. Tama bass hoop pad.
