Yamaha Power V Shell Pack Red 80s 90s Vintage Drum Set in used and excellent working condition. I bought this drum set used in about 2007. I played it as a practice set for a long time. The pictures don’t show the true color, I tired different lighting, this was the closest. Make no mistake, this drum set is RED. It is NOT faded at all, it is full on red! Everything works as it should. This is not a lightweight drum set. The shells are heavy duty, very stiff, thick shells, no rerings. Made of a mix of birch and basswood, I believe. The bearing edges are very sharp and in great condition, factory-applied black paint inside all shells, nice and clean inside. The chrome all around is in great shape for its age, tiny pits here and there, no weird green tarnish. The wrap has some light surface scratches, no deep scratches anywhere. The batter side bass drum hoop is towards the end of its life, but you get an extra aluminum hoop to match the front one. Heads are used but are still usable, some tape reside here and there. Bottom tom heads are in good shape. The wing nuts on the floor tom leg brackets had to be remade, I bought it this way, they have worked fine all these years. The floor tom was converted to a bass drum at one point, to be used as a 3-piece drum set: 16″ bass drum, 12″ rack tom, 13 mounted low tom setup. This was done with proper bass drum spurs, black painted wood hoops, all the proper hoop claws and longer tension rods with washers and a bass drum tom mount that works with the existing Yamaha tom arms. You will receive all of this hardware as shown in pictures, even the clamp to mount the 13 tom from a cymbal stand as your low tom in that setup. Also, unpictured, you will get a small but very sturdy bass drum riser that easily clamps on so the bass drum pedal beater hits the 16 bass drum in the middle of the head. People cringe at the sound of a floor tom/bass drum conversion, I know. But this was not done halfway. This isn’t a drum set that should’ve gone to Goodwill. All holes were drilled with precision. There isn’t any bare unpainted wood inside the shell. The holes in the floor tom don’t effect its sound, it does everything it should. You could always plug them. If you are pressed for space for two drum sets, and you need a rock drum set and a small gigging drum set all in one package, this is it. Gigging drummers know you shouldn’t take a 22 bass drum to a good paying small-group jazz gig. The 22 bass is for the 90s cover band!
