Vintage Sonor Champion drum kit circa 1973. The Champion series was the precursor to the Phonics and feature beautiful 6 ply all beech shells. This kit is 14×22 8×12 9×13 and 16×16 in Metallic silver wrap. Overall this kit is in nice shape with a few non original parts. Wrap is overall very good with no bad scratches or gouges. All hoops and tension rods are original. Chrome has some light pitting. Looks good but would really shine with some polishing. A little rust on the air vents. All bearing edges are good. Heads have seen better days. Other than previously described here is more detail per drum. 12 tom – Non original wing screw on tom mount. This drum has aged to a slightly darker color than the others. 13 tom – Non original wing screw on tom mount. 16 floor tom – 2 of the 3 wing screws for the legs are non original. Legs are original but have varying degrees of chrome loss. Modern Sonor rubber feet. Original Sonor logo heads. Muffler is missing the round felt pad assembly and has considerable rust. Original hoops, inlays t rods and claws. Original Wing screws on spur mounts. Some minor seam lifting on bottom. Rubber feet missing from spurs. Some chrome loss on tom post mounting bracket. Original wing screw for tightening the tom post has been replaced by a bolt. It works great but needs a wrench to tighten. 2 of the slotted tension bolt style tighteners on the tom mount have been replaced by DW handles. This actually makes adjusting the mount easier. Overall a great vintage kit. These Champion kits sound fantastic. Great kit to play as is or clean up a little and replace a few non original parts for an amazing vintage kit.
