1968 Ludwig Mod Orange Super Classic with Supraphonic Snare — Original Wrap — Factory Matched — Drums Included (Depth x Diameter, Serial Number, Birth Date). 9×13, 591109, March 12 1968. 16×16, 591031, March 11 1968. 14×22, 589249, No Date Stamp. 5×14, 590401, March 8 1968. Overall, these are in Very Good Condition, but please read on. Structurally these drums are very solid. When we took these drums in, the bottom hoops on both toms were missing (likely removed in the 70’s). We’ve replaced the bottom hoops and rods with era-appropriate pieces but the resonant edges are about 1/8 out of round. Consequently, the heads fit tightly. They still tune up well and sound fantastic. Original wrap seams are tight. Original inlay on both hoops (has been re-glued on the resonant side). Batter hoop has scuffing from kick drum pedal, it has been rotated away from the bottom in order to hide the inlay seem under a claw. These bass drum hoops look so good, we decided that touching them up would be a disservice. Mufflers on toms are original, snare muffler was broken and has been replaced. Snare has what looks to be original bottom head and snare wires (it’s a beautiful snare with a near flawless P-83). Kick resonant head is also original. Batter heads are near-new G1 coated with G1 clear reso’s. Kick batter is a Calftone EQ4. There are some cosmetic blemishes and some of the purple has washed out of the finish. There is a small amount of pitting on some of the chrome. The hoop we added to the 13 has substantial pitting, but it’s what we had on hand… Please see pictures for details. Please don’t ask.
