A totally unique set of drums combining two 16×24 Tama Artstar Cordia Bass drums and Genuine Remo Chrome Roto Toms using existing Tama double tom mounts, DW Dog Bones and all new hardware on the full set of Remo Roto Toms. PLEASE NOTE: The 6″ & 8″ Roto toms are not pictured, but will be included in the sale! The Genuine Chrome Remo Roto Toms are a full Chrome Set with 6,8,10,12,14,16,18 and completely refurbished with brand new 2.3mm chrome triple flanged hoops, new tension rods, new nylon washers, new center tuning screws with double spacers and locking nuts, new Remo Black Levers that lock the drum into place, newer Remo Pinstripe Heads, and New DW Dog Mini Dog Bones. This is a very very rare find. If you have been looking for Chrome Genuine Remo Roto toms… Then you know who crazy expensive and impossible to find, they have become. I have a love for Roto Toms as used in an all roto tom kit with a normal bass drum, a la Terry Bozzio or Bill Bruford. There is something really cool about the sound that they produce, especially when mic’d and going through a big PA… I always describe it as a “KANG” with tons of bite and attack. Throughout the years, I have sort of collected them… And as I collect an entire set of them (which is very difficult to do these days), I match them to the right bass drum. The bass drum has to THUMP with tons of low end OOMPH in a big way to contrast the sound characteristics of the Roto toms. While my previous Roto Kit was a single bass sets, this one will be a double bass kit, more like my original one back in 1986. The bass drums I chose for this kit are a pair of smokin’ 16×24 Tama Artstar Cordia Wood Bass Drums that deliver the THUMP… The gorgeous High Gloss lacquer finish and Exotic South American Cordia Wood Veneer makes for a visually stunning shell… They have lots of THUMP, punch and meatiness with tons of low end OOMPH! Once I find the right bass drum(s), I will start reworking them. I start by ordering new 2.3mm heavy duty triple flanged chrome hoops, new tension rods with the built in washers, new white nylon washers, new Remo Pinstripe Heads (my favorite drumhead for Rotos), new center tuning screws with double spacers and locking nuts, and new Remo Black Levers that lock the drum into place. Everything is reworked and the only stock parts used are the actual Roto Spoxe. They are cleaned up, polished, and lubricated so that everything tunes up smoothly. Essentially, I get rid of all the stock junk on a roto tom, which is pretty much everything on a roto tom stock from the factory. These Roto Toms are completely hot rodded by the time I get done with them. While not cheap, the change is night and day from a stock version. Any of you who have attempted to put something like this together these days will already know how difficult it is finding any roto toms outside of the typical 6″, 8″, 10 configuration… Those are pretty easy to find. But, finding the 12″ 14″ and especially the 16″ and the near impossible 18″, especially in chrome… Damn near impossible these days. The 16″ and 18″ are commanding big bucks and the chrome versions are even pricier. Remo Stopped making the bigger ones many years ago and they are really drying up. This kit is a steal! You will need two additional DW mini-dog bones for the 6″ & 8″ Roto Toms not pictured. The cymbals, snare drum, and cymbal stands ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE.
