For beginner who wants to learn to a pro who wants to stay sharp, the TD-12 is an amazing kit. This one is eight years old. The snare is a year old. I play it in an apartment building and have never had a complaint from a neighbor. The TD-12 module has 50 built in drum kits and is a technological marvel that I only skimmed the surface of.
