This is a late 1967/early 1968 Rogers Top Hat based on having twin 8×12 toms, or perhaps a Londoner drum set because it has the later style double-tom mount. The blue onyx finish is new. The configuration is 14×18, 8×12, 8×12 and 14×14 with a 5×14 matching PowerTone snare drum. A rather rare bird in terms of having the small bass drum, twin-toms and 14×14 floor tom. It seems to have been a special-order set-up because the bass drum is Dayton serial 83xxx with flat grey interior while the toms are Dayton speckled with serials numbers 96xxx to 97xxx. Snare drum is serial number 17xxx and era appropriate, but did not come to me with the set. Again, it is refinished in beautiful blue onyx. Unfortunately, the original wrap cracked and delaminated from the shells to an extent that it detracted a great deal from the appearance of the set. Fortunately, the shells remained beautiful otherwise and the wrap was expertly replaced by Precision Drum Company including refinishing the paint on the hoops. The chrome is very good all around. There is some pitting here and there on the metal work, but overall it is in very nice condition for a 50-year old set of drums. It is likely that it could be cleaned up some more if you felt it worthwhile to do so. I havent had the time as Ive been too busy since I have owned it. The right-side short tom arm had some rust on it. It could be it sat around unused for a while in less than best protection. Small item if you decided you wanted to replace it. As pictured, it also has new reproduction floor tom legs by JP2 Creations. Beautiful chrome and with the addition of one extra set of markers on the legs. Otherwise, you will get the new ones. The heads are essentially new Remo coated Ambassadors all around with a logo head on the bass drum (the head seen in the first photo), except the snare drum that has a coated Aquarian batter and Evans Hazy 300 snare side head. The bass head has an area where an attempt to remove the Remo logo resulted in some of the white coating coming off. The logo is a die-cut logo. It is ready to go out on a gig right away, though you may want to add muffling strips to the bass drum depending on the venue and sound you want to achieve. The snare drum stand is not included. Note that this set is suitable for right or left-handed players because the script logos and tone controls on the mounted toms were correctly installed from the factory so there is truly one for the right side and one for the left side. So please read this description carefully, look at the photos carefully and ask any questions you may have. If you need additional photos, please ask.
