The shells are beechwood with no re-inforcing rings. The same shells used in the Phonic Series. The bass drum originally had telescoping spurs, which were replaced with Pearl spurs during the re-wrap process. Other than a few extra holes in the bass drum to accommodate the Pearl spurs, there are no additional holes drilled into the shells.
