This kit was custom ordered from Yamaha of Japan (Piano Black lacquer, 22×18, 8, 10, 12 standard depth toms, 14, 15 deeper toms – all mounted) by me in the year 2000. The drums have always been kept in Tuxedo Bags and are in near-perfect condition. The lacquer, gold and chrome appear to be new. I have installed the unused, original factory remo clear ambassadors that I removed the day I unboxed the drums. They look amazing and sound even better. There is even minimal rash from the BD pedal! I have been a Yamaha artist for over 15 years so I will vouch for the quality of this instrument. It has served me well and has appreciated in value (and will continue to) now that production facilities have been relocated to China. Additional plies in the 10-ply bass drum shells help produce a low fundamental tone. Maple Shells and the Vintage Finish. The Finish is a special synthetic resin finish that is applied by hand on high quality wind instruments. While enhancing the tone of the maple shell, the Vintage finish also provides a durable, waterproof finish that virtually eliminates the influence of weather and humidity on the drum. Yamaha’s small gold lugs consist of a precision-machined lug nut inserted in a small springless casing. Attached to the drum shell at its nodal point by a single bolt, the shell is allowed to vibrate freely. A special nylon insert prevents tension rods from becoming loose during play. A sturdy hexagonal design and fixed angle position allow our spurs to withstand bass drum kicks. Height adjustment and the releasing and retracting of the pointed spur are made easily with a drum key.
