I recently found this beauty that had been stored away for over 50 years. The previous owner told me that it was a vintage 60’s Pearl drum set. Since I wasn’t sure, I contacted Pearl Adams Support Team and asked them. This is the conversation I had with them. I’m trying to get information on a vintage Pearl drum set that I recently acquired. I’m not sure how I go about posting anything on this page. I believe it is a 1968-69 kit made in Japan. Can you send us some pictures and we can get some information for you. You can just drag an drop the files in your reply. Your kit appears to be a late 60’s Thunder King and its in great shape! Here is the 1968 catalog so you can see a little more about it. 14″ X 22″ Bass Drum, 5 1/2″ X 14″ Snare, 9″ X 13″ Tom, and 15″ X 16″ Floor Tom. The only hardware included is what you see, 3 floor tom legs, 2 bass drum spurs, and the bass drum tom tom holder. The tom holder on the bass drum doesn’t appear to be original, or at best it was modified. In my opinion, everything else seems to be original (except the heads). According to the catalog info, this color would be a Sparkling Red Pearl. No badges are to be found on the shells, only the lugs have the Pearl logo with “Japan” clearly seen on the back of them. The snare wires also have Pearl stamped into them. These things sound incredible even with just a tap of the finger. These are also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this listing early.
