Before World War II broke out Ludwig was a relatively small company which allowed them to change models and features of drums frequently. In the 1939 Ludwig Catalog a new model was introduced called Twin Sensitive Hollywood Swing Snare Drum. These snares featured the Zephyr lugs and the dual strainers and were available in lacquer or pearl finishes. Production of this model was limited and production was discontinued the following year. This drum has the Avalon Pearl wrap which has only slightly yellowed in its 86 years of existence. There is some pitting on the lugs but the hoops are clean and the wrap has no tears or lifting. This snare not only sounds great but it is unique and interesting piece of Ludwig history.
