For Sale is a beautiful 1965-66 Slingerland drum set in Gold Sparkle finish. 8x 12 tom, 16x 16 floor tom, 14x 20 bass drum. All drums have very lightly used Evans G1 heads on toms (coated on batter, clear on bottom) and a pinstripe on the bass drum batter side with an Aquarian Force head with reproduction Slingerland logo. Shells are standard and classic 3 ply Maple/Poplar/Mahogany shells with maple reinforcement rings. The chrome overall is in very nice shape with minimal pitting, rust and oxidation, much less than expected wear for a kit of this age. 8x 12 Tom (no badge from factory), Stamped December, 1965. The wrap seam is tight and wrap is in very good condition with very light scratching and wear, strong color. All original lugs, internal tone control muffler and stick saver hoops (tension rods look original but I cannot 100% verify). Interior of shell is in excellent condition. Bearing edges are excellent and untouched from the factory. Very , very little to no gap between shell and rerings. No extra holes, diamond plate mount has less than expected wear, but has the most wear on the drum. 16x 16 Floor tom (no badge from factory), Stamped 1966. The wrap seam is tight and wrap is in very good condition with light wear (scratches that are present are light and a two or three black marks). The wrap color does have more fade in color than the 12 tom and 20 bass drum. Some silver sparkle flakes present in the gold. All original lugs, internal tone control muffler, stick saver hoops, floor tom brackets and legs (again all but one tension rod look original but I cannot 100% verify). Very , very, little to no gap between shell and rerings. No extra holes, floor tom legs have some rust and wear. Floor tom legs have L shaped tensioners, I just noticed that one floor tom leg bracket is stripped. Not sure when it happened as the kit has been stored. I just took out today and noticed it. Rubber feet are newer and not original to the drum. The inside of the tom has a small spot of wear (light split in inner ply), however, compared to most Slingerlands of this era it is minimal (the thin inner maple ply on vintage Slingerlands tend to get small surface cracks). 14x 20 Bass Drum (Black/Brass Niles Badge with 5 digit SN), Stamped 1965. The seam is tight and wrap is in nice condition with less than expected wear but some light scratches and marks. Bass Drum Hoops have expected wear, no inlay on batter side hoop. Reso side is missing some inlay near bottom of hoop. Hoops could easily be resprayed if someone wanted. No extra holes, original rail consolete, lugs, tension rods, claws, spurs and mounts present. Lug casings, claws and tension rods have expected wear (scratching, rust, oxidation, pitting) but are still in nice shape. Original spurs and spur mounts have original tension wingnuts and c clips on pointed side of spurs. The bearing edges on the batter side of the bass drum is excellent and untouched from the factory. The resonant (logo head) side has some damage to the wrap and bearing edge. This could be repaired, however, the drum tunes up very nicely and sounds awesome so I never bothered to fix. The silver flake in the close up shots of the wrap are more pronounced due to the camera and do not show this way in real life. The floor tom is more faded than the 12 tom and 20 bass drum, however, still matches well. Sale is final so please look at all the pictures and ask any questions you may have.
