Very nice 1969 1st. Generation Gretsch Stop Sign Badge Red Wine Pearl Blackhawk configuration drum set, the classic rock set, sizes are 14”x22”-8”x12”- 9”x13”- 16”x16” all drums have good, clear and correct orange and white tags inside, nice original matching stop sign badges, all mufflers and Pratt installed and working great, rods, claws, hoops, and lugs all look original, match and are in great condition. No rash on rack toms, correct and working legs and brackets on floor tom. The double tom mount is in excellent condition, holds toms well , the wooden 8 lug bass hoops, just like a round badge set, have some wear and claw indentations, but really no issues, the original inlays are there and have shrunk, but the gaps hide under the claws. A very nice example of 1969 Gretsch drums, I could not hope to find a better matched set. These are identical to round badge drums, built in early 1969, in the 116000 serial # range, except for the 3/8” hole in the toms, for the badge grommet. This is not an easy finish to find and it looks great in person, the more large drums together the more impressive they look. Toms all have new Aquarian American vintage heads, some light use on batters, bass has original Gretsch logo head and a Gretsch Permatone powerstroke three batter head. These drums have super thick Delmar wraps, you need Gretsch or oversize heads. Great sounding and looking drums, if I was still playing out, I would not hesitate to gig this set out , very solid legs, spurs, tom mounts, hard to scratch wrap. It is 50 years old so there are signs of use, the bass drum and floor tom seams could be re-glued or not, I’m fine with them, they are not torn or flapping about, the 13” tom has a hoop with some tarnish, I took all the hardware off when I first got the drums and gently cleaned and polished everything.
