For sale is a Rare Gretsch Broadkaster “Roll A Way” drum kit from the late 30’s to early 40’s. This kit is in AMAZING condition for it’s age. The original White Marine Pearl finish has yellowed evenly and nicely. The chrome is in really excellent shape, especially for a kit from this age. Perhaps even more amazing is that the calf heads on the toms are in phenomenal shape, as are the bass drum heads. An absolute must for any vintage collector, especially a Gretsch collector. Below are more details of each drum which are a beautiful thin Mahogany with maple reinforcement rings. 9″x 13″ Tom Tom. Broadkaster (rocket) lugs, Gretsch round badge, single flanged chrome hoops with original clips. Wrap is tight and in excellent condition. Top head is in very good shape, bottom tack head is in excellent shape. Bearing edges are nice and look untouched. 12″x 14″ Tom Tom. 14″x 28″ Bass Drum. Broadkaster (rocket) center lug, single tension bass drum. Gretsch round badge, wood bass drum hoops with matching inlay, Calf heads are in excellent shape, they were painted white somewhere along the way and the white paint is cracking and chipping. The finish has some minor wear, some scratches, but in excellent condition for the age. There are a few spots where the wrap is chipped under the hoop in one spot. The bass drum is mounted on a rolling rail system with locking wheels, which apparently was designed with Chick Webb in the 30’s. There are two chrome consolletes which the toms mount to via L tabs. There is also a cymbal arm mount and cymbal arm. We are also including a cowbell and mount that needs a thumb screw to attach to the hoop. Bass drum has number on reinforcment hoop. The bearing edges are nice and look untouched. 6.5″x 14″ Broadkaster snare (rocket lugs), wrap is yellowed a bit differntly then kit, but is close. Wrap is tight and in very good shape. 3 point strainer is missing the extension arm and needs some work. It needs to be helped to tighten snare wires.
