Believe it or not, I actually bought and briefly owned one of those modern sets… But it couldn’t compete with my 1991 set. The modern Sessions sounded weak, with funny buzzes and other issues. They simply weren’t in the same league as the genuine Pearl Sessions offered here. This drumset is finished in PIANO BLACK LACQUER (not a cheap wrap). The 14×12 Floor Tom is officially a “hanging floor tom, ” intended to be hung from a stand. I invested in adding an awesome RIMS Dynamount Floor Tom System so that the drum can be used as a regular floor tom with legs. If you prefer to use the drum in the original “hanging floor tom” manner, no problem. I will include the bracket for that, and you can simply remove the Dynamount system… But I personally think the Dynamount system is an excellent upgrade. We’ve all heard the saying: They just don’t make’em like they used to. Well, that really is true in this case. This genuine 1991 Pearl Session drumset is miles beyond Pearl’s current modern version.
