Up for sale is my mid-2000 4 piece Ludwig Classic Maple John Bonham replica shell pack in natural maple gloss. This is a replica of his early touring kit before he switched to touring with the Vistalite set and it sounds incredible. Tune it up and you have great attack and stick response coupled with a rumbling low end for that Bonzo sound or tune it lower and you get a cavernous, deep wet maple sound. Ludwig Classic Maple shells are about the best sounding drums out there and this kit makes an incredible visual and sonic presence on any stage. Issues with the kit include a few small nicks on the side of the bass drum (pictured) which are hard to see because of the natural maple finish. Slight pedal indentation on the hoop, and the 18 floor tom has had very slight dent/seam separation (pictured). It looks like the previous owner dropped the drum on it’s side and it “dented” the top part of the shell slightly at the seam. The seam has been re-glued and is absolutely solid and the hoop has been replaced. No cracks but the drum is very slightly out of round at the top. Drum heads seat on the bearing edges fine and there is no binding with the drum head or counter hoop. It tunes up great, sounds fantastic and is not at all noticeable when a drum head is on it. Pictures don’t do this kit justice, the maple grain is intense and stunning. Included in the sale is: 14X12 inch virgin rack tom, 16X16 inch floor tom with legs, 18X16 inch floor tom with legs, and a 26X14 inch bass drum.
