For sale is a 1960 Rogers Holiday drum kit in rare steel grey ripple pearl. The tags on the kit date these drums between 1960 and early 1961, making it an early example of a Rogers script badge kit with 3 ply jasper lugs and flat bearing edges. The set is in great shape overall for being 63 years old. The chrome has been polished and each drum has been meticulously dealt with individually. For further descriptions of each drum, please read below. 14×22 bass: Rare drum in this size. About half the B&B lugs show minor cracking, but all have been removed from the drum and were reinforced. T-rods are in good shape with only a few presenting minor pitting. The drum could use is a new set of hoops: one is an original Rogers hoop missing the inlay and the other is unoriginal. One of the knobby cymbal arm mounts is also missing a tension rod (though these can be found readily available online). There is a decently-sized crack in the wrap shown behind the tom mount and another small crack underneath one of the B&B lugs, though neither of these are visible to the audience when the kit is fully set up. Wrap is tight around the seams. Batter head is worn but still useable as is. Interior is in excellent shape. 9×13 tom: Drum is complete with tall boy rims and peanut lugs. No cracks in any of the lugs. There is some rash present on the wrap but again is not visible from an audience perspective. 16×16 floor tom: Drum is in excellent shape overall. Has original tall boy rims and no cracks in any of the lugs. The legs are missing their rubber feet and the tension rods on the reso side are unoriginal. 5×14 snare: This drum was added later to the kit and contains the slightly newer beaver tail lugs that succeeded the B&B. Because of this, the wrap is of a slightly brighter shade than the rest of the kit, though this is hardly noticeable when fully set up. Both the chrome and wrap are in excellent shape. The strainer is an original Rogers strainer but could use a replacement as two of the strands have since broken from their soldering points. Batter head is worn but still functional. Throw off is original and works as it should. All in all, this kit is an excellent example of a players-grade early’60s Rogers with B&B lugs. The drums sound incredible and look great under the lights. These kits are becoming harder to find and complete sets in this finish do not show up often.
