Vintage 1970s Slingerland 5-Pc. Drumset in Black Chrome Wrap. This is a great-looking set of 1970s Slingerlands in black chrome wrap with a steel/chrome snare. This set is in very good “player’s” condition and could be taken to a gig as soon as it arrives! It still has all original hardware and hoops and includes a 5×14″ snare drum, 8×12″ and 9×13″ mounted toms, a 16×16″ floor tom, and a 14×22 bass drum. (all sizes are Depth x Diameter). Here’s a rundown of specific details about each component. 5×14 Snare Drum – This is a steel drum with chrome finish. It has original hardware and stick-saver rounded hoops. Heads have recently been replaced with an Evans coated G1 on the batter and an Evans Snare Side 300 on the bottom. Snare wires have also been recently replaced. The internal muffler was removed by its previous owner and is no longer available. Expect to find some minor pitting/corrosion on the chrome finish, as well as a few fingerprints and light scuffs. The badge – although not in danger of falling off – is loose around its edges and spins rather freely. The serial number is difficult to read but begins with 765 and ends with 5. There are no stamps or other markings on the interior of the shell. 8×12 Mounted Tom – This drum has a 3-ply maple shell with reinforcement rings. Heads have recently been replaced with an Evans clear G2 on the batter and an Evans clear G1 on the bottom. The Set-O-Matic tom bracket is secure with no stripping. Expect to find age-appropriate scuffs and light scratches on the black chrome wrap, as well as some fingerprints and a bit of dust. The badge on this drum is also a bit loose, but not quite as much as the snare badge. Serial number is 251479. Bearing edges and interior shell are in very good condition. 9×13 Mounted Tom – This drum has a 3-ply maple shell with reinforcement rings. The internal muffler is in place and functions as designed. The badge on this drum is tight although it is coming up slightly around the edges. Serial number is 269681. There is a black Slingerland stamp on the interior of the shell. 16×16 Floor Tom – This drum has a 5-ply maple shell with no reinforcement rings. Floor tom leg brackets are secure and function as designed with no stripping. Serial number is 317708. There is a black Slingerland stamp on the interior of the shell, as well as a white and red decal that reads 5 PLY Slingerland. 14×22 Bass Drum – This drum has a 3-ply maple shell with reinforcement rings. It has original hardware and inlaid hoops. The batter head has recently been replaced with an Evans clear EMAD. The front/audience side head is an original Slingerland black dot that looks like it was probably used as a batter head at some point. The mounting plate for the Set-O-Matic tom arm is secure with no stripping. Serial number is 240615. There are no apparent stamps or markings on the interior of the shell. Hardware – Included with this drumset are three original floor tom legs, bass drum spurs, and the Set-O-Matic double tom holder.
