This Listing is for a 1971 Ludwig 3 Ply Drum Set. 3 Ply Sound is the Sound of Early Beatles & Stones drum tones. Later Drums began to be built with more wood laminates for sturdier construction and deeper tones. If your going for Classic Rock & Roll Drum tones, 3 Ply is the answer! This kit has been stripped and refinished with a mahogany stain inside and out (over the clear 3 ply maple/poplar/maple shells). Pictures dont do this kit Justice, as it glows in person! Some of the wing nuts and screws are replacements, but most of the parts are original. The Bass Drum Spurs are the Upgraded New Ludwig Replacement Spurs, for added stability. Serial numbers are all close; 860xxx, 861xxx, and 862xxx. I individually Polished each lug, as well as installed a small cotton pad between the Lug and The Lug Spring, to remove spring rattle. The heads Ive chosen for this kit are the John Bonham Tom Style, with Remo Coated Emperors on the Tops and Remo Coated Ambassadors on The Bottoms. KICK: 24 x 14. FLOOR TOM: 16 x 16. RACK TOM: 13 x 9. Kick Batter: Remo Powerstroke 3. Kick Resonant: Ludwig Remo Powerstroke 3. Floor Tom Batter: Remo Coated Emperor. Floor Tom Reso: Remo Coated Ambassador. Rack Tom Batter: Remo Coated Emperor. Rack Tom Reso: Remo Coated Ambassador. SKB Kick Drum Case 24 x 14. SKB Floor Tom Drum Case 16 x 16. When I used this kit to play shows, I would line the cases and drums with towels and pack the Rack Tom into the Floor Tom Case. And pack my Snare into The Kick Drum Case. (Two cases to transport all four drums). This Kit has been Used on a lot of The Milliwatts Recordings and Music Videos. Check Out the Videos The Milliwatts on YouTube.
