1961 Ludwig / WFL Super Classic drum set. Blue and silver Duco with matching 1965 Pioneer snare drum. Overall in very good condition for a Duco kit of this age. All of the drums have nickel hardware which is very nice. A few of the lugs are a little hazy in spots. Some dings and scratches on the paint finish in places, mostly on the floor tom. Duco paint has some light crazing. Solid kit with original bearing edges and no modifications. I’ve included a lot of pictures so view them all carefully. 9 x 13 tom: White interior with ink stamp Aug 3, 1961. Top dial muffler and holes for an additional bottom muffler but the bottom muffler was missing when I bought the drums. These look to be factory holes. These are the only extra holes on the entire kit. Bottom rim of 13 tom has a dent but the rim will still seat the heads and tune fine. Remo coated Ambassador on resonant side and suede Ambassador on top. 16 x 16: No muffler and no holes for one so it came from the factory this way. No internal ink date stamp. Floor tom shows most wear with some scratches and flaking of the paint. Pitting and light corrosion on the WFL leg brackets and legs. Suede Ambassador on top and coated Ambassador bottom. 14 x 22: Wood interior ink date stamp February 17 1961. Paint missing from the bottom of the front and back bass drum hoops. Some plating has flaked off of the rail consolette. Original silver sparkle inlay intact and in good shape. Ambassador on beater side and what looks like the original front Ludwig head. Front head has faint remnants of a band sticker. 5 x 14 Pioneer snare drum with serial number 109435. Baseball bat muffler with red felt. White interior with no visible date stamp. Ambassador coated and Diplomat snare side. Kit tunes up very nicely low, medium, or high and just sounds great. What you see is what you get. No stands or additional hardware included.
