Hello Ludwig drum fans. Here we have a vintage Ludwig Classic Maple 6-Piece drum set with matching snare drum. One original owner non-smoker the drums have remained in an in-home music studio for their entire life and never moved. All drums have remained case kept in warm dry storage of the last few decades. This is a time capsule kit in excellent to mint original condition! Note: I can sell this kit in smaller configurations (fewer drums) if needed for reduced pricing. Top of the line professional grade drums. All maple 3 ply shells. Keystone badges on all drums, Monroe, North Carolina production from the early 1990s. All drums finish in beautiful original shadow emerald (dark green) transparent lacquer with woodgrain showing. The drums look like pieces of fine furniture. Superb exterior finish on all drums, no added holes in the shells, no dents or scratches, no missing or broken parts. Color finish on all drums is even and matches perfectly, no difference in color or finish, no checking or blemishes in the lacquer. Shell interiors and bearing edges are all excellent. All original chrome hardware in excellent condition, no rust or pitting. All drum heads in excellent playing condition – upgraded professional level Evans batter and resonate heads which further enhanced drum tone hand tuning control. The drums deliver outstanding deep punchy tone, amazing volume and projection ranges. Bass drum 22 round x 16 inches deep. Matching finish maple hoops in excellent condition no issues. Includes Ludwig heavy duty double tom mounting post with original memory locks and set screws. This mounting post also features the third hole for mounting additional gear as needed. Original Ludwig logo resonate head, Evans batter head. Floor tom — 16 x 16 inches on legs. Evans batter and original Ludwig resonant heads. Mounted toms — 13 round by 11 serial numbers 32822788, 12 round x 10 serial numbers 3282276 and 10 round x 9 serial numbers 3323757. 6 legs each drum. The 10-in tom was a special order drum from the Ludwig factory and perfectly matches the rest of the kit. The 10-in tom comes with an original Ludwig mounting arm and clamp that clamps to cymbal or drum stands. Note: the cymbal stand shown in photos that mounts the 10-in Tom is not included in the sale. These drums were made in the Kustom Chanute, KS factory (’71-’73) from 6-ply Jasper shells with re-rings and they sound incredible! Easily tuned with a dry punch and minimal overtones–it’s no wonder that they’re held in such high regard. As for this finish… The word “rare” gets thrown around a lot, but this Purple Moire is truly hard to find. And, when you do find one of these old satin flame kits, they are often riddled with spider web cracks and splits in the finish. Despite the many small surface scratches, this finish on this kit is in surprising good condition. There are no breaks in the Moire, the seams are tight and the overall aesthetic is fabulous. Sizes (depth x diameter). 8 x 12 mounted tom. 9 x 13 mounted tom. 16 x 16 floor tom. 14 x 20 kick drum. 5 x 14 snare. This kit has absolutely no extra holes or modifications, but we do believe in complete disclosure, so please allow me to extremely thorough over the details below. Original wrap and inlays. Original bass drum hoops. Paint has not been retouched. Original COB lug casings. Original tone controls on snare and toms. Original triangle tom mount and tom arms. Original Floor tom legs and brackets. Original spurs and brackets. Both tom-mounted brackets had the wing nut sheered off. These were drilled and removed. One was replaced with a period correct Camco piece, the other with a very similar replacement. One of the rubber floor tom feet is a replacement. One tension rod (located on the floor tom bottom) is a replacement. Five tension rod washers were missing and a couple were under-sized (same thickness, smaller diameter). One of the long screws inside the strainer is a replacement. The external casing of the snare strainer is era appropriate, but is also a replacement (the missing screw broke off inside the original part). A couple other disclosures. The screws in the bass drum have a slightly smaller head on them. These look to be the same size as other Chanute kits, so my assumption is that the other drums were assembled with some of the leftover Oaklawn fasteners. One of these screws was also used to attach a floor tom leg bracket. The white interior paint looks like it was touched up in the factory after assembly (there are a few random screws with brush strokes, I made a point not to clean these off). This is an early 90s, made in Japan, 9-ply, 7.5ml all maple shell. Tama’s flagship line before the thinner shelled starclassics. This is a players kit with some normal wear scratches from the wedding band scene, but never bashed on (see pics). All screws and bolts working normally. The heads are practically new, and the snare drum was re-edged by Tony Gallino from GMS. The toms were mounted on a rack, so all I have are the tom/L- arms, without the bass drum mount.
