Vintage Slingerland Red Tiger Pearl Drum Set 13/13/16/22 1970-72 Niles, IL

Here’s a vintage Slingerland drum set in the beautiful Red Tiger Pearl wrap. Sizes are: two 9×13 rack toms, 16×16 floor tom, and 14×22 bass drum. Niles, IL badges in the 66xxx to 71xxx range date this kit to between 1970 and 1972. Three-ply shells with maple interiors. Bass drum spurs and floor tom legs included. There are minor scuffs and scratches consistent with 50 years of normal use. All original except for heads, some tension rods, and one replacement hoop inlay from Jammin’ Sam’s. The replacement inlay is Red Onyx, which is the closest match to the original that I could find. In the final photo, the replacement inlay is on the hoop to the left. It’s a tighter pattern than Red Tiger Pearl, but the colors are an exact match. Hoops have been freshly painted. Heads are a mish-mash of new and used. On the toms, all batter heads are new or NOS (unplayed). The Bass drum batter head and one of the 13 tom reso heads are worn and should be replaced. You are looking at a very rare specimen indeed. A 7 piece collector series kit. Kit was ordered in 98, and is dated accordingly. Was custom ordered by a drum tech in 98 of a pretty dang famous classic rock band, and used in shows by several big name bands over the years. The great thing about a drum tech kit is how well they take care of their stuff. This kit is in excellent condition overall. You will be stunned. Two monster 24 bass drums, 18 and 16 floors, and 10,12,13 rack toms. Have seen several tiger stripe kits over the years, but never in this color scheme. Cosmetically there is a spot on the inside of one of the bass drum hoops that has a little dark residue on it I have not attempted to remove. The ever so tiny amount of wear on the black hardware in a few spots. And a very few tiny marks on the kit itself. It is in incredible shape. To find a kit in these sizes in this condition at this price is near impossible. Any questions, ask away. Heads are newer Remo pinstripes on all toms, Aquarian studios on the reso sides with the exception of 13, which has older pinstripe which I didnt replace since I didnt use that drum. Bass drums have Aquarian super kicks and will be sent with ported black DW front heads, not head in picture. Notes are as follow bass drums (b) 18 (d) 16 (f#) 13 (Bb) 12 (d) 10 (a). Slingerland White Tiger Pearl Shell Pack Drum Set

Up for sale is a Slingerland White Tiger Pearl Shell pack, 8×12, 9×13, 14×15, 16×16, 14×22 virgin BD. RIMS mounts and gibralter mounts are included as seen. The odd with this set is the 15″ drum, it looks like it was converted to a floor tom since they didn’t make this size in the 15″ floor tom, but somebody did an awesome job with it and it carries the tone you would expect from a shell pack. I personally think it was an un-drilled tenor drum at some point, but can’t confirm. All toms have re-rings top and bottom. Wrap is tight all over, with a couple areas where it may be coming loose at overlap edges evident in picture of the one tom, all others appear tight. BD hoops are in’ok’ condition. Bass drum spurs are solid and stable. Overall, this kit is in fantastic shape for its age. The bearing edges shown in pics are indicative of all drums, the edges do appear to be gently sanded to remove varnish as they don’t look like my other Slingerland I have. None of the edges are mis-shapen as far as I can tell, there are couple minor scrapes on drum interiors here and there nothing major, the scrapes shown in the pics are what I think are the worst of it; all of which are none of my doing. Black Galaxy bags for each drum are included in this sale. This kit is meant to be played and needs to be played, total eye catcher for many and definitely generates conversation and looks fabulous under stage lights! I have had this set a couple years now and it has been babied since. Minimal normal pitting on lugs and rim, some minor chrome flaking on rims from normal aging, seen in photos. No major scratches or dings on shells, no drums have ever been dropped. Evans EC2 on toms, with black remo ambassador for reso heads, this thing sounds great. I do have video of this kit all mic’ed up and will post soon. I love bringing these things back to life and I think I did a pretty good job doing so to preserve the beauties.
