Premier Aluminum Vintage Snare 14 by 5 1/2 10 lug, flawed but functional. Not sure which model this is as Premier numbered a lot of their old kits rather than give them names but pretty sure it’s a late 70s model based on my research on Vintage drum sites, probably a PD6035. Has brand new 30 strand Fat Cat snare wires and a relatively new Evans snare side head and it’s internal muffler works fine. Has a great Vintage aluminum sound, dry and crispy. Reminds me of old Motown or mid 60s Who records. Great for Classic Rock, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Reggae or any genre that calls for a crisp aluminum sound. Has some flaws to be aware of before purchasing. The chrome plating is flaking in several spots. Has some interior dents beyond the rim (see pics 5 & 6). The snare throw off mechanism is loose, if you accidentally hit it with a stick or your hands it will release the snare. You also have to push it up from the bottom to reengage it. The lugs work but I think they need to be cleaned, some of the lug nuts turn harder as you tighten up the snare head, think there might be dirt and grime inside causing this. Also, it works with standard tuning keys but they are tight on the lugs and sometimes hard to get off. I feel my price reflects these flaws as it’s getting harder to find aluminum snares for cheap these days.

Before reading any further, please note that the. Cymbals, cymbal stands, pedals, and throne are NOT included in this listing. All of the drums that you see in the photos are included (as well as their stands). Please copy and paste the link below for additional and higher-quality photos of the set. This is absolutely 100% a players-quality kit. The drums have a lot of wear and looks like someone toured extensively with it throughout the 70s. Ive included pictures of the most noticeable flaws above. The serial numbers and swivel feet Atlas stands date this set to approximately 1976. It had been sitting in a storage locker for decades before I obtained it. These drums are as clean and presentable as theyll get in original condition. Every lug was removed and polished, every tension rod and hoop was polished and removed of rust, and all of the prominent scratches in the wrap were gone over with a furniture marker. While some of these touch ups can still be seen under close inspection, the set looks way better than it did before. From just a feet away, none of these blemishes can really even be seen. And, if desired, a rewrap with some new t-rods and hoops would instantly make this set look brand new. Tom sizes are 6,8,10,12,13,14,15,16,18 with two 22 bass drums. The 14×6.5 supraphonic is a newer drum that I added later on to the set and is in great shape! Stands have the usual pitting and scratching expected with 50+ year old hardware. The bass drum mounted tom arms are significantly beat, though this wear is not noticeable once the arms are inside of the drums. No parts are missing on any of the stands and everything still works and holds great. Ive found Evans Hydraulics to be the best sounding heads for concert toms. These heads have been on this set for about a year, so theyre a bit worn (though still have plenty of life left in them). The drums still had the Silver Dot Ludwig Rockers when I originally got them. The original resonant heads are still on the bass drums. Overall, this is about a 6/10 set. A majority of the wear is secluded to the wrap (and the cortex wrap was designed to take quite a heavy beating). That said, the drums themselves are still very solid and will easily last another 50+ years. They can be restored to look like new or you can play them as they are. Cymbals are a close match to those used by Bonham as well, snag this zep style Ludwig kit while you can and lay down the hammer of the gods like the mighty Bonzo.
