En playing drums for roughly 60 years. Started when I was 5 or 6 years old. I have an almost embarrassing amount of equipment so over the years I’m thinning the flock a bit. This is my 20. You are in good experienced, honest, competent hands. Feel free to ask me questions, and. DESCRIPTION OF ITEM AND LISTING TYPE. The set consists of the following drum configuration. 10 all original lugs and related hardware per side. New Remo Weathermaster Emperor Kick Side HEAD, clear. Front head is coated Ambassador, Remo. Spurs are half circle Ludwig that slide into drum when not in use. Original hoops with matching inlay in perrfect condition. Has mounted Ludwig dual arm rack tom holder built in. With two dampers, one on top, one on reso head. Both work via round dial on exterior of drums. 6 lugs per side. New heads, Remo Coated Emperor on batter, Remo clear Ambassador on Reso head. Ludwig mount for mounting on mount arm. 14″ and 16″ floor toms. This was not a standard configuration back in the day, but is very effective. 8 lugs per side. Three leg mounts per drum, all Ludwig, with Ludwig logo on them. 3 Lega per drum. New heads, same as Rack Tom. This set is mint. The wrap is tight and without fault, scratches of evidence of use. The white mother of pearl finish has very little yellow tint to it. (see new photos) but is possibly a re-wrap. Also possible that this kit is a circa 1969 kit in that the interiors are all clear coat, and not white, and the spurs are either replacements or original 1969. A Ludwig drum collector wrote me, and in fairness and in the interests of full disclosure, I want to incorporate this into my listing. Hello my fellow Ludwig drummer! I’m also a seasoned drummer and have had lots of Ludwig kits since the early 60’s. Currently have 3 Ludwig early to mid 60’s kits. Just contacting you as a “heads up”. This is not an original wrap. 1 in 1963 they were using serial numbers on the Keystones. Looks like a replacement Keystone. 2 this is not the pattern they used for White Marine Pearl/Sky Blue Pearl, etc, in the 60’s. That is a later wrap material. 3 If you remove a head you will probably see that the wrap is NOT tucked into the shell. They used to wrap the shell, and THEN bend it into itself and glue it. Later processes (1970’s to present day) the wrap was applied after shell bending so it is all on top of the shell, and not imbedded. Kit looks good, but you really should look at the shell without a head, and if you see what I’ve described, update the listing. The chrome is faultless. No pitting no rust. Regardless of the year of manufacture 1963 or 1969, these drums are in outstanding condition, are definitely Ludwig USA, Ludwig’s finest, sound terrific, and are in outstanding condition. For your consideration, a Rogers 26/13/16/18 drum set. I bought this set around this time last year, but realized that they are just too big for my tastes. They are stunning, and the condition is absolutely remarkable! From the physical characteristics, this set dates back to around 1970 or 1971, with the exception of the 18 floor tom, which dates to 9/72. Step back a few feet, and they look new! The photos I took have reflected lines on the tom shells. These are not scratches. If you desire that John Bonham, crushing, huge drum sound, then look no further. And Rogers drums of this vintage were the absolute flagship of quality you could obtain. They tune easily, are incredibly resonant, and will hold up as well as most currently produced drums. The virgin 26″x14″ bass drum is a rarity. This allows for added depth and projection, since there is no tom mount to diminish the sound. I have replaced 8 of the T handles on the bass drum that were bent. 7 remain slightly bent below the T section, but function fine. Other sizes are 13″x9″, 16″x16″ and 18″x16″. The 13×9 has a Swiv-O-Matic tom mount installed. Serial numbers are: 26×14 bass drum #20449. 13×9 tom # 99124. 16×16 floor tom #83099. 18×16 floor tom #50253. This sale does not include hardware or cymbals, but included are the 6 floor tom legs and the Swiv-O-Matic cymbal tilter that connects to the 16 floor tom. Also, I have Ahead Armor Cases (that is their trade name, but they are actually bags, but very good lined ones) for all the drums. Message me if interested. Here a great example of a kit that took the lugs and hardware from American made drum sets of the day. Looks like Slingerland Lugs and Stick Saver hoopes. There are no signs of a badge on any of the drums. They are luan mahogany shells with re-rings. The chrome will clean up nice only minor surface haze. The two things that impress me with these drums are the condition of the wrap and the way the drums sound with some tuning. A nice kit to play and look at. Came from a Jazz player. Back to the wrap there are some pulls on the bass drum by the lugs but the seams are tight and the wrap secure on all the drums. The bass drum has two base ball bat style tuning lugs that one ear is broke off they still work fine. The sizes are 22”by 14” bass drum 13”by 9” rack tom 14” by 5” snare and a 16” by 16” floor tom. The heads seem to be the original with felt strips. The bass drum hoopes seem to be a light silver pearl I think because the WMP wrap was applied to the black hoopes. And on of the bass drum spurs (the part that goes through the shell) is short and will need a replacement. Snare stand and bass drum cymbal mount included.
