This one owner Gretsch drum set was bought in 2002. The original owner bought it with the 8″ x 8″ rack tom, 8″ x 10″ rack tom, 10″ x 12″ rack tom, 12″ x 14″ floor tom and 16 x 22Bass drum with dw double tom mount. These drums show normal wear and tear and the bass drum has some extra holes and modifications. This is a player set they sound incredible! The 8 x 8 Tom has die cast hoops and a Rims mount shows some finish wear. The 8 x 10 has die cast hoops and a Rims mount some stuffing and wear on the finish. The 10″ x 12″ has die cast hoops and a Rims mount has some finish wear. The 12″ x 14″ has die cast hoops and a floor tom Rims style mount, floor Tom legs, and shows finish wear. The 16 x 22 bass drum has extra holes: pearl bass drum spurs were installed. All the drums show finish wear and the drum heads are old.. Please make sure your address is up to date. This is a rare 1979/1980 Transition Badge Gretsch drum kit in red walnut finish. All of the drums are traditional depths: 14×22 (2) 16×16, 9×13, 8×12 toms 5×14 chrome over brass snare All tom mounts, legs, hoops, lugs, mufflers, are original. Condition is very good for a drum set of this age. It has some scratches and dings on the drums but the finish is beautiful and none of these blemishes are noticeable from a short distance. All of the drums have coated ambassadors (clear resonant) and Gretsch logo front bass drum heads. One of the bass drum batter heads was replaced with a Remo PS3. Both have Remo falam patches on the bass drum batters. The sound of this kit is impressive and loud, but it is also quite sensitive when played softly. This is the perfect studio kit. MANY greats use them in the studios of LA and all over the world. For sale an early 70’s Gretsch Progressive Jazz Kit. 14″x 20″- 8″x 12″- 14″x 14″ 5″ 1/2 x 14″ Snare drum. No cymbals, stands, pedals. These drums have been professionally refinished in high gloss clear coat with a honey maple stain and they look fantastic! . All chrome is in very good to excellent condition, very little in the way of scratches or pitting. Original silver interior on all 4 drums, floor tom is a bit darker silver. Heads fit effortlessly on the bass and fl tom, the top tom batter side is a tad snug, but tunes up easily. Bearing edges original and excellent condition. There is small repair done on the front side of the bass drum, (see pic 12), which still has a few very small nicks and do not effect the tuning. No extra holes in any of the 4 drums. Floor tom was ordered without leg brackets, and the Rogers swivo mounts were professionally installed. Badges present on all 3 drums. Mufflers / control knobs all present in perfect working order. Paper tags are present on the insides: BD reads 1450 and the last number is hard to read, the paper tag is partially missing. Floor tom reads: 12088 and the top tom reads: 16622. All tension rods are factory matched. Snare drum has the “Lightning” throw off, works great and the fish tail butt plate, 8 lugs, key holder. Great snare drum, the finish is just slightly lighter in color than the other drums, but barely noticeable. Its just a really nice set that need to be played. Any questions and extra pictures just ask. I have owned this set for around 10 years and have never taken them to any gigs, so the finish is virtually in mint condition, a few nicks but not many. They tune up and have a great open sound. I like them better than my round badge drums for certain sounds. Very nice 1969 1st. Generation Gretsch Stop Sign Badge Red Wine Pearl Blackhawk configuration drum set, the classic rock set, sizes are 14”x22”-8”x12”- 9”x13”- 16”x16” all drums have good, clear and correct orange and white tags inside, nice original matching stop sign badges, all mufflers and Pratt installed and working great, rods, claws, hoops, and lugs all look original, match and are in great condition. No rash on rack toms, correct and working legs and brackets on floor tom. The double tom mount is in excellent condition, holds toms well , the wooden 8 lug bass hoops, just like a round badge set, have some wear and claw indentations, but really no issues, the original inlays are there and have shrunk, but the gaps hide under the claws. A very nice example of 1969 Gretsch drums, I could not hope to find a better matched set. These are identical to round badge drums, built in early 1969, in the 116000 serial # range, except for the 3/8” hole in the toms, for the badge grommet. This is not an easy finish to find and it looks great in person, the more large drums together the more impressive they look. Toms all have new Aquarian American vintage heads, some light use on batters, bass has original Gretsch logo head and a Gretsch Permatone powerstroke three batter head. These drums have super thick Delmar wraps, you need Gretsch or oversize heads. Great sounding and looking drums, if I was still playing out, I would not hesitate to gig this set out , very solid legs, spurs, tom mounts, hard to scratch wrap. It is 50 years old so there are signs of use, the bass drum and floor tom seams could be re-glued or not, I’m fine with them, they are not torn or flapping about, the 13” tom has a hoop with some tarnish, I took all the hardware off when I first got the drums and gently cleaned and polished everything. Factory early 70s bop kit. Bass drum is NOT a floor tom conversion. This is the early 70s era where they had the diamond plate on the 12 and the goofy rail mount with the two sized ends to fit it. At some point someone took that thing off the bass drum (and just left the original rail) and drilled the 12 for a slingerland Mount. They utilized the bottom diamond plate hole and drilled two holes for the wider slingerland set o matic plate as well as a larger center hole. They must have used a stand mount tho because the bass drum was not modified (thank god). Im including a Gretsch diamond plate and L arm that works with the current rail mount if you like that set up otherwise the W&A spade set up currently installed is better in my opinion. Either way you get both options. Personally I think the classic W & A plate and rail looks better and it covers the 3 extra holes. The long spade works great, solid for playing, and is easy to adjust. The top hole in the W&A diamond plate does not line up with the original gretsch diamond hole exactly, so Im just utilizing the bottom and side 3 holessimilar to how they had the slingerland mount on there before. Its a little bit of a bummer but in this case its minor compared to the mods that could have been done to the other two drums. To be clear, the rail mount on the bass drum is original to the drum and the bass drum has not NOT been modified. At any rate, the 12 is obviously the least valuable and easiest to replace if you want to try to make the kit perfect. As is it works perfectly and looks great. The 18 and 14 are obviously the most important and they are beautiful. A couple other Notable issues. 12 has some pretty good snare rash dug past the clear coat and into the shell. Its on the exact back of the drum when the kit is set up. Only the player see it. Other than that the finish has aged pretty evenly and beautifully on all the drums with the 12 showing the most checking. Assuming it was taken out and played more than the others hence coming up with a more solid mounting solution. Bass hoops are new. Only had one original when it came to me. That one original bass hoop can be included in the sale if youd like. Bass Spurs and wing screws are the new Gretsch/Maxwell reproductions. Everything else is correct/factory and nothing is missing including all washers and tension rods. Edges are awesome on all drums. The 12 and 14 both have an extremely minor ding in the bottom edge but does not affect the tuning whatsoever. If you wanted to dab a dab of wood filler in each and lightly sand it it to be flush would be very simple to do. I chose to leave it original and let the new owner decide. Heads spin freely on all drums. No issues with the structural integrity of any of the drums or tuning/roundness whatsoever. Prat muffler is present on bass and functions. Felt is a little dirty. Vintage Early 70’s Stop Sign Badge Drum Set. Came as a set together with matching serial numbers. The original owner is no longer with us and has his name in the 13″ and 14″. The set has all the original bearing edges that are in great shape. All silver interiors and tags are present. All mufflers are present and working. The drums are. 14″X 24″ 20 lug Bass Drum. Tees and claws all original. Gretsch logo front head. There is a extra set of spurs on the drum. Spurs might not be original but all 4 match. Heads fit loose on both sides. 16″ Length x 18″ Diameter 20 lug Floor Tom. (Remo Ambassador) Still tunes up like new. 4 legs are not original but vintage and match. 10″x 14″ 16 lug Ride Tom. Excellent shape with all original parts. A few small marks. Heads spin free on both sides. 9″X 13″ 12 lug Ride Tom. It does have some snare drum rash on the players side. 5″x 14″ 8 lug Snare Drum Model 4160 Serial no. 54520 Chrome over brass. Comes with the original Gretsch key and a new 40 strand wire. The chrome is in great shape all around. Also comes with a pair of Gretsch 18″ Maple bass drum hoops if you want to change the 18″ floor tom into a bass drum. The kit is like driving a Cadillac with a massive sound that can drive any band. Out of the 100 plus kits I have owned this has been one of my favorites. Snare stand does not go with it.
