This is a set of 1965-66 Ludwig shells that I rewrapped with Jammin’ Sam’s “Sullivan” wrap. It is modeled after the 1965 Shea Stadium set and I got as close as possible! The front head is hand painted by a guy in Philly who owns one of the original heads! Includes matching bongos, claves, Ringo stick bag, Speed king Pedal, hi hat stand, 2 straight stands, 17″ and 18″ Zildjian cymbals 14 Zildian hi hats, red Ludwig throne, floor tom legs and Rogers Swivomatic tom mount, Ludwig snare stand! All you’re missing is the man himself! Shells are as follow, all 3 ply Mahogany/Poplar/Mahogany with maple re rings. All period correct Keystone badges. Ludwig and Remo heads. 22″ x 14″ Kick drum with spurs and stopper on front hoop. Rogers Swivomatic tom holder. 16″ x 16″ floor tom with legs. 13″ x 9″ rack tom with Rogers mount. 14″ x 5.5″ Jazz Festival snare with P83 throw off, P32 butt plate and white baseball dampner. 6″ and 8″ Ludwig bongos in matching wrap, Ludwig Castinettes, Leather stick bag. Made famous by Ringo Starr of The Beatles, Ludwig’s Downbeat in Oyster Black Pearl is one of the most iconic drum sets of all time. The 20″, 14″, 12 sizes are versatile–small enough for jazz but large enough for rock. The 3-ply maple/poplar/mah0gany shells with roundover bearing edges produce a warm, round sound and the maple inner ply (as opposed to mah0gany from Ludwig’s earlier years) adds a little to their projection. This kit gives a timeless look and sound that work well for so many playing styles. Don’t miss out! Please note this kit is a re-wrap and rehabilitation project of a black diamond pearl kit that I found with most of its wrap peeled off already. Brand new wrap from Jammin Sam. Excellent hardware; all original hardware except for a new Canopus baseball bat muffler. Very good shell; original bearing edges, fresh coat of color-matched white paint, some pieces of the mah0gany outer ply had been peeled off when I found it–likely when the previous owner removed the old wrap, the wrap covers it up and it does not affect sound nor tuning. Excellent heads; new Remo Ambassador coated batter and Yamaha single-ply clear resonant. Excellent hardware; all original except for a 1980s Ludwig triple-flanged hoop on one side. Very good shell; original bearing edges, fresh coat of color-matched white paint, minor ply separation repaired with wood glue and clamps, slightly untrue bearing edges which is typical for Ludwigs of this age and can be fixed if you want to do that. Very good heads; new Remo Ambassador coated batter and Evans Genera Resonant. Brand new wrap from Jammin Sam on drum and hoops. Excellent hardware; all original besides lug screws visible only from the interior of the drum. Very good shell; original bearing edges, fresh coat of color-matched white paint. Excellent heads; Remo Pinstripe clear batter and generic single-ply coated head with Ludwig vinyl decal resonant. Feel free to reach out with questions.
