The reason why its a replica is because the drum shells are made of fiberglass instead of wood. Other than that, everything else on the drum set has the original era appropriate vintage Slingerland hardware, including the lugs, drum badges, quad bass drum spurs, straight floor tom legs and a Slingerland Set-O-Matic tom arm. The drum set also comes with a 24 x 14 inch bass drum, 13 x 9 inch mounted tom, two 16 x 16 inch floor toms, Slingerland 14 x 5 1/4 inch Buddy Rich model TDR 10 lug chrome snare, Slingerland Rocket model hi-hat stand, three Slingerland cymbal stands, Slingerland snare stand and Slingerland bass drum pedal that are also all era appropriate. It was made from the specifications of the original Slingerland Buddy Rich Outfit model number 80N. From what I was able to research, the shell pack was custom made to spec with fiberglass shells at a time after Slingerland stopped production of the original 80N and they were no longer readily available, which makes this a real one of a kind Buddy Rich tribute drum set!

Candy Apple Red, only offered in 1985/86, and as a special order through the end of’87! This features all the CORRECT sizes to Neil’s set of that era: Concert Toms: 6″ x 5.5, 8″ x 5.5, 10″ x 6.5, 12″ x 8. The 6″ and 8″ have the CORRECT low boy rims too! “Closed” Toms: 12″ x 8, 13″ x 9, 15 x 12. The 12″ is a converted concert tom, hence the concert tom badge instead of the “T badge. Floor Tom: 18″ x 16 Snare Drum: 14″ x 5 Basses: 24″ x 14 (two) Gong Bass Drum: 20″ (22 Head) x 14 Also included: Simmons Pads (Quantity = 4), with SDS9 Brain module. Simmons 20 Watt Electronic Drum amplifier. Converted Floor Tom 18″ x 16 for back side of drum set, and a Artwood Birch Snare 14″ x 6.5 Drums are, for the most part, in really nice condition. Very few marks on the toms, a little bit of rash on top of the basses where the toms have rubbed. Chrome is also nice, very little rust. Includes all original tom mounts and tension rods, and lugs. All tom mounting hardware is included, as seen in the pictures, except for the two snare drum stands are not included. The Simmons Electronic pads have no tom arms, but they accept Pearl tom arms, which can be found anywhere. The 12 Closed tom was converted from a concert tom. Bearing edges were cut on the bottom, sounds nice though. You can notice when looking at the inside of the tom that it was cut in a couple of places. The Timbale was cut down from a power tom. It features gong bass lugs, so that the head/rim is oversized by an inch. The Gong Bass was painted at a body shop to match the Candy Apple Red. I did the interior of that shell, so it’s not a perfect match if you look very closely, but it still looks terrific. The Floor Tom was converted to a bass drum at Columbus Pro Percussion. The hoops are not originally Tama’s, and the paint job on those hoops are not a perfect match, as you can see in the pictures. The Snare drum in that 5 depth is hard to find, let alone in Candy Apple Red. I will take a return, but only of the item is received “NOT AS DESCRIBED”. I’m not a music store, so I don’t plan to operate like one. If the cymbal isn’t what you thought it would be, that’s on you. I won’t accept a return because you don’t like how it sounds, period. Up for sale is my mid-2000 4 piece Ludwig Classic Maple John Bonham replica shell pack in natural maple gloss. This is a replica of his early touring kit before he switched to touring with the Vistalite set and it sounds incredible. Tune it up and you have great attack and stick response coupled with a rumbling low end for that Bonzo sound or tune it lower and you get a cavernous, deep wet maple sound. Ludwig Classic Maple shells are about the best sounding drums out there and this kit makes an incredible visual and sonic presence on any stage. Issues with the kit include a few small nicks on the side of the bass drum (pictured) which are hard to see because of the natural maple finish. Slight pedal indentation on the hoop, and the 18 floor tom has had very slight dent/seam separation (pictured). It looks like the previous owner dropped the drum on it’s side and it “dented” the top part of the shell slightly at the seam. The seam has been re-glued and is absolutely solid and the hoop has been replaced. No cracks but the drum is very slightly out of round at the top. Drum heads seat on the bearing edges fine and there is no binding with the drum head or counter hoop. It tunes up great, sounds fantastic and is not at all noticeable when a drum head is on it. Pictures don’t do this kit justice, the maple grain is intense and stunning. Included in the sale is: 14X12 inch virgin rack tom, 16X16 inch floor tom with legs, 18X16 inch floor tom with legs, and a 26X14 inch bass drum.
