RARE VINTAGE SONORLITE SCANDINAVIAN BIRCH DRUM SET. Sizes are: 12×10, 13×11, 16×17, 22×17. All drums come with their stock Sonor Extended Play heads top and bottom. The toms have nylon washers and snap locks, the bass drum has metal washers and no snap locks. I believe that dates these drums to the late 80s/early 90s, sometime between 89-94. Cosmetically the drums are beautiful. Excellent condition for a drum set of this vintage. There are a few pinpoint specs of pitting here and there, but it’s very minimal. The chrome gleams and the Scandinavian Birch shells are stunning inside and out. The bearing edges are good and everything functions properly. I always pack well, but I will pack with extra precaution because of the value and rarity of these drums. Mounts on the rack toms, and classic fold-out spurs on the bass drum. This drum set is in Excellent Condition. There appears to be almost no cosmetic wear to the shells, save for some faint scratches near the badges on the 12 tom (see last pics). I’m listing my very finest drum collections. This is the second set listed. This is a classic vintage Beech shell four piece set made in Germany in exceptional condition. DESCRIPTION OF ITEM AND TYPE OF SALE. OVERVIEW: Stunning, all original, well cared for Vintage and Collectible Drum Set, all drums being natural beech wood shells, with non-gloss exterior coating. These drums are notable based on the quality of construction, quality of materials, pristine condition, nary so much as a mark on the exterior surfaces, no rust nor pitting on the high gloss chrome coated steel hardware. This set is all original, except for replacement heads over time. BASS DRUM: Despite its somewhat diminuitive (by vintage standards) 20″ x 14″ , this baby pumps. Must be the Beech wood. Beech shell matches other drums perfectly and has magic vintage yet crisp sound. Original hardware includes T-rods, lugs, bearing Sonor Logo, hoops, spurs and legs. All original, and all fundamentally spotless Equippted with one factory tom mount, and one factory cymbal mount. RACK TOM: Matching Beech shell and finish. 13″ x 8″ size. Mounts tightly on factory mount. TWO FLOOR TOMS: Matching Beech shell and finish. Both are 16″ X 16″, with new Sonor, Remo heads. Both are complete with original legs, and all hardware. I have had these drums for a long time. These drums are the real thing. They also may be incalculably valuable- especially the snare drum. ALSO, you will find that the drums are in the round, there are not holes in the drums except for on the rack toms, where I removed the old clip on to the Bass Drum hoop type mount. Unfortunately I haven’t located that hardware amongst what I have here, but suffice it to say, that when I do, or if you do, the holes are ready for that ORIGINAL MOUNT. Other than that caveat, I have don’t no modifications, there are no holes, the wrap is all original, some of the heads are even original, the hardware is original, the drums are beautifully in the round, the bearing edges smooth and just right. There is on some hardware the lightest of discoloration, but this drum set could be shined up, and be absolutely rush free with little effort. If they don’t sell and I show them, I’ll do precisely that. The spurs on the bass drum are, I believe original. They are both there and they work. The housing and legs on the floor tom, were represented to me as originals, and they are certainly of the correct time period, but I don’t see where the Ludwig logo appears. Both hoops on the Bass drum are wood. One is original with original outlay. The other new and pained matching background black. You’ll note that I made a collage of the badges on the drums. They are so special. Hopefully you can look at them closely and admire. As mentioned all hardware is pristine and original SONOR. The toms all have screw blade type tops of tensions rods. The T-rods on the bass drum are proper. Chrome is shiney and without issue. One beautiful drum set. More to come, and some listed as well. Also some top notch snare drums will follow.
