Late 30s/early 40s Slingerland Radio King kit. 9×13 tom, virgin 16×16 tom with cradle (cradle is unpolished and as found), 14×20 kick, and 5.5×14 snare with 3 point throw-off. Snare stand, clamp-on spurs, and cradle are included. I failed to photograph them, but each drum has a Radio King engraved hoop. Original calf skin on the bass drum batter and floor tom batter. 1 of the T-rods on the floor tom have the handles broken off. The resonant side kick hoop is a 60s Rogers with the original inlay glued in. The original hoop had been cracked and repaired so many times there was no way to repair it. A few of the bass drum t-rods are slightly bent. Edges are in solid shape around the drums. 1 replacement screw on 1 of the floor tom lugs. This kit is what Id call a survivor. I acquired it from the original owners daughter. These drums were extensively gigged around the tri-state area. Based on some pictures she shared with me, Id say the snare and toms were originally paired with a larger kick. At some point, the snare was professionally cut down from what looked like a 7×14 to a 5.5×14. Im guessing the cloud badge on the 20 was transferred from the larger kick, as the grommet, while of the period, does not look original. The drum is definitely a 40s or early 50s Radio King based on the size of the re-rings. As you can see from the pictures, the wrap has faded somewhat unevenly around the drums, but they still play well together. The top of the kick drum has a few dead spots. Ludwig Vintage 1967 5 Piece Drum Set Kit. Bought from the original owner years ago. The kit has all matching serial numbers from 1967. The kit is not mint and has flaws. It was covered with contact paper for many years so the wrap is somewhat dull but still decent. No extra holes anywhere. Seams are all tight. White interiors are dull and not bright. Much of it’s life was spent with only batter heads. 14″x22″ Bass drum Serial No. 548225 Original hoops & inlays. 1 inlay is missing a 1 piece and has a extra staple holding it. Tom holder has the original bolt in working condition. Ludwig Smooth White 1960’s Batter head. 8″x12″ Ride tom Serial No. A few small rough spots on the bottom. 11 Remo Ambassador fits just a little snug on the bottom. Still tunes up very good with no problems. 9″x13″ Ride tom Serial No. A few rough spots on the bottom. 11 Evans head fits a little snug on the bottom but still tunes up very good with no problems. 16’x16 Floor tom Serial No. Bottom Evans fits a little more snug than the 12″ & 13″. No rough spots and still tunes up very good with no problems. 5″x14″ Supraphonic Snare drum Serial No. Muffler and P-83 throw both work great. Some pitting and flaking like most from this era. One of the best and most popular snares of all time. Ludwig hardware is included with the kit. It comes with a hi-hat with original clutch/snare stand/2 cymbal stands/Speed King pedal/throne/tom wrench/drum key/brushes and a pair of Roy Hanes 7A drumsticks. Overall the kit has marks/scratches/and a small amount of rust and is not in mint or excellent condition. Still one of the rarest colors from Ludwig. With the snare and matching hardware it is a unique find for collectors. I have described the kit to the best of my ability.
