The set was played for several years, detailed and prepped for long-term storage – About 46 years, in the future… Carefully stored for these many years – The Shells, Wrap and Chrome hardware are in GREAT condition, considering these drums were built 50 plus years ago… The Rogers face heads are the original as provided when NEW… The entire configuration consists of the following ORIGINAL hardware. (2) 8 x 12 Tom Tom – Holiday (Dayton) – S#67490 & S#81239. (1) 16 x 16 Floor Tom – Holiday (Dayton) – S#94480. (1) 14 x 20 Bass Drum – Holiday (Dayton) – S#88922. (1) Swiv-O-Matic Foot Pedal with Hinged Heel – #396. (1) Swiv-O-Matic Dual Tom Tom Holder – #366. (1) Drum Key – #4409. (1) Zildjian 22 Ride Cymbal. The drums and cymbal were wrapped individually in soft cotton sleeves during long-term storage… The Rogers catalog will be retained, though a copy of the pages listing specific items will be included… This exceptional Rogers “Partial set” certainly holds-it’s-own among the remaining survivors. The only items we know of that are less than perfect are as follows. The chrome mounting bracket for the foot pedal has some corrosion and can be re-chromed. Base drum spur has a bit of corrosion on the very tip. Though not obvious, some random pitting can be found. A small separation on the Bearing Edge and a horizontal separation within the shell of the Bass Drum. Three recently bent T-Rods on the Bass Drum were partially corrected. Item: Sweet Slingerland drum set in the Modern Solo Outfit configuration. 14×20 bass drum, 8×12, 9×13 toms, 16×16 floor tom and 5×14 Festival model steel shell snare. Features: Original Natural “Maple Wood” finish which has aged beautifully with less than expected wear for a kit of this vintage. There are no major deep gouges or rash, although there are some small dings and scratches. There is some natural discoloration in the finish which only adds to it’s charm in our opinion. All the traditional Slingerland trimmings are here! Double Set-O-Matic tom holder, telescopic bass drum spurs, original chrome bass drum hoop inlays, stick saver hoops, internal tone control mufflers, original bass drum tension rods, Silver and Black Niles badges and on and on…. This kit was well cared for. There is some tape of the floor tom legs and the washer is missing on the rapid throw off on the snare drum. Bearing edges on the kit are original, untouched and still in nice shape. This kit tunes up like a dream and is SOOOO Much FUN to play. It just oozes with vintage Mojo. Sound: Nice punchy bass drum with beautifully resonate toms. The festival snare is perhaps the most underrated vintage drum out there, excellent crack with great sensitivity. Vintage 1966 Slingerland drum set in beautiful champagne sparkle. Sizes are 20-16-13, the classic 1960s Slingerland Gene Krupa outfit. Great condition, some typical wear due to age, but otherwise nice and clean. No extra holes or modifications anywhere. Wrap is clean and tight. Like many vintage sets that lived through the 1970s, these went through a concert tom phase and lost the bottom hoops and tone controls long before I got them. Some drummers still prefer that 1970s sound, or easy enough to convert them back to two-sided if you must. The bass and floor tom have always been together since 1966. The tom is a few years older, 1962, and a very close match in both wrap color and tone. There is some pitting and minor rust spots on the chrome here and there consolette mount, bass T-rods, etc. , but nothing bad enough to seriously detract from this set’s beauty. The bass spurs and at least one floor tom leg are not original, but they are all functional and can also be easily replaced. The rim on the tom has a minor dent, but it is also still solid and functional. In other words, t. His is a very nice player-grade set with potential to be detailed further if you wish. A picky collector will find minor flaws and might want to swap some of the parts for something with a bit less wear. But other than that, these drums. 1960s Round Badge Gretsch Bop Outfit drum set in White Marine Pearl. 20″ x 14″ bass drum , 16″ x 16″ floor tom, and 13″ x 9″ tom. All drums have been thoroughly cleaned, polished, waxed, and lubricated. Good condition wrap–faded, wrap lifting at edge and light cracking at lugs. Good condition chrome–hazing and pitting as expected with age. Brand new Remo Controlled Sound Clear batter and generic white hazy resonant head. Paper tag present. One new bass drum hoop; both hoops refinished in gloss black. Damage on inner ply of bass drum from tom mount installation. One new claw and tension rod on bass drum. New bass drum spurs. Very good bearing edge, 30-degree cut. Original muffler present and functioning. Very good wrap, notably less fading than the other drums. Very good chrome. Worn out heads (you’ll probably have your preference). Very good bearing edge, round-over. Top hoop is new, bottom hoop is original COB and has a spot where the chrome came off. Likely MIJ floor tom legs and mounts. Good wrap, faded, wrap lifting at edge and light cracking at lugs. Original hoops and tension rods. Original mufflers present and functioning. The shells are beechwood with no re-inforcing rings. The same shells used in the Phonic Series. The bass drum originally had telescoping spurs, which were replaced with Pearl spurs during the re-wrap process. Other than a few extra holes in the bass drum to accommodate the Pearl spurs, there are no additional holes drilled into the shells. This is a 3-piece vintage drum set consisting of. 14″ (depth) x 24″ (diameter) bass drum; 8″ (depth) x 12″ (diameter) mounted tom; and 18″ (depth) x 16″ (diameter) floor tom. Please note that all of the above sizes are approximate, as they are “pre-international;” the 12″ and 24″ are slightly undersized in terms of diameter, while the 16 is slightly oversized. Remo stocks heads for the toms, but not the bass drum to my knowledge (that would be a custom order). I would guess that the drums were manufactured in the late’50s or early’60s. We are including the pictured accessories and hardware, all of which I believe to be original. We’ve listed the condition as fair; the drums are playable as is but there are some issues. The calfskin heads are intact with the exception of the torn one pictured on the resonant side of the bass drum (its flesh hoop is intact). I believe that the tape on the bottom floor tom head was for muffling rather than repair. Otherwise, expect all cosmetic issues typical of such an old set. The tension rods are slotted, and the included Trixon key works with them. A modern Sonor key works but is not 100% compatible. The interior shell photos depict the bass drum. We’ll respond to reasonable offers with our best price to your location.
