This kit was bought new, never gigged, and used by me alone in my smoke free home. The Vintage Natural finish is Yamahas only finish that was designed to make wooden instruments sound richer and fuller. As the drums aged, I noticed they became better sounding. I spent hundreds of hours listening to recordings of cymbals and trying them in stores. Then I took the keepers, and worked with them until I found those that worked best with this kit. This Stage Custom Nouveau Set is in excellent condition and was mostly used in a drum teaching studio setting for most of it’s existence. The set has some minor scuffs here and there, see photos. This set is made from Birch (outer ply) and Philippine Mahogany 8-ply giving it a warm overall tone. Yamaha’s Air Seal System used for shell construction ensures each and every shell is of uniform thickness and is perfectly round to achieve superior tone quality and durability. The Nouveau lugs are attached at 2 points by a floating lug design which reduces the vibration and dampening of the drum, giving the shells more sustain and tone. The mounted toms incorporate the Yamaha YESS mounting system which allows the attachment of the drum to the tom holder with out penetrating the shell with the tom holder. 8-ply birch (outer ply), Philippine mahogany, and falkata shell. YESS tom mounts on all toms. Air Seal System shells. 1.6mm triple-flange steel hoops. Matching wood bass drum hoops. 20″ x 16″ bass. 10″ x 8″, 12″ x 9″, and 14″ x 14″ toms. 5″ x 14″ wood snare. For sale from my personal collection are 5 Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Nouveau drums. They have only been played for a few hours and have been stored in Protection Racket deluxe padded cases ever since. They still look brand new! These are the last models manufactured in Japan and made of the highest standards and quality before Yamaha started making their pro series drums in China. All of Yamaha’s “top of the line” professional drums were made by the Sakae Company of Japan like the original Recording Custom, Maple Custom, Maple and Birch Absolute Custom/Custom Nouveau and Beech Custom. The drum sizes are listed in depth by diameter. The toms are 7×8, 8×10, 10×13 & 14×16 (All on YESS mounts). The bass drum is 18×24 (No mount drilled). For sale is a Japanese manufactured YAMAHA BIRCH CUSTOM ABSOLUTE with NOUVEAU lugs. 14” depth x 15 diameter. 14” depth x 13” diameter (unique size). 100% Birch shells, Nouveau style lugs, YESS mounting system and Yamaha’s patented Air Seal System round out these classic drums. The 13” floor tom has unfortunately developed some spider cracking in the lacquer. It is only in the finish and not in the shell. (See the last 3 photos). The rest of the drums only have minor cosmetic flaws on the shells, hoops, and hardware. The TH945 tom post is included. The heads have normal stick and beater marks on them. Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Nouveau shell pack in rare Gold Sparkle Fade Lacquer. Includes 14″ x 18 Bass Drum , 7″ x 10″ and 8″ x 12″ Mounted Toms and a 14″ x 14 Floor Tom. Bass Drum Riser, Bass Drum Tom Mount and Floor Tom legs are included. They have nouveau lugs, which are easy on/off. They make your life so easy! These drums have been very well taken care of with very few dings. The only issues I could find are finish cracks on the bass drum and floor tom. It was difficult to photograph as I had to get exactly the right angle. Doesn’t affect sound. Shells are solid structurely. I get compliments on the finish all of the time.
