Here’s a vintage Slingerland drum set in the beautiful Red Tiger Pearl wrap. Sizes are: two 9×13 rack toms, 16×16 floor tom, and 14×22 bass drum. Niles, IL badges in the 66xxx to 71xxx range date this kit to between 1970 and 1972. Three-ply shells with maple interiors. Bass drum spurs and floor tom legs included. There are minor scuffs and scratches consistent with 50 years of normal use. All original except for heads, some tension rods, and one replacement hoop inlay from Jammin’ Sam’s. The replacement inlay is Red Onyx, which is the closest match to the original that I could find. In the final photo, the replacement inlay is on the hoop to the left. It’s a tighter pattern than Red Tiger Pearl, but the colors are an exact match. Hoops have been freshly painted. Heads are a mish-mash of new and used. On the toms, all batter heads are new or NOS (unplayed). The Bass drum batter head and one of the 13 tom reso heads are worn and should be replaced. Vintage 1974 Slingerland Black 5pc Shell Kit Niles Ill. 24″x14″, 18″x16″, 14″x10″. 13″x9″, 5″x14″. Player grade black & chrome vintage drums circa 1974-ish. Snare is later, late 70’s early-80’s maybe. Tom tom & bass shells excellent. Wraps are very good. Maybe some small wavy areas here & there. Lugs do have some very light pitting. Drums could use a cleaning but still look good. No big dings or damage, some rubs though. Snare has pitting, scratches & crack repair inside. New head sounds good. All matching with black & silver badges with “Niles, Ill” on them as well as the serial numbers dating them around 1974. The set has the single hoop concert tom tom configuration with a 24″x14″ bass drum, 14″x10″ tom, 13″x9″ tom and a mighty 18″x16″ floor tom. Snare is 5″x14″ steel/chrome wrap over maple shell. Tom Tom heads may be negligible. The two top concert toms have been factory sprayed inside. Has the Set-O-Matic tom holder. One replaced tension rod on kick drum. Supposed to have 4 spurs for kick but I only have two. Bass drum missing one leg mount, see pic. Non-original floor tom legs and lock keys. Original Slingerland Black label snare stand & kick pedal.
