Snare drum and hardware shown are for display only. Sorry for the tease. Factory lefty configuration in 9×13, 16×16, and 14×20. You could always put the 13 on a snare stand if you ain’t correct-handed as my pops says. Shells are all 6 ply Jasper with the reverse roundover. Serial numbers are 03562, 03557, and 03548. Here are the marks against. There are heavy scratches/gouges on the inside of the kick drum. No structural damage and hey, no one’s going to be inside the kick drum eyeballing them while you’re playing it. Sorry, no photos of this as of now. Trust me, they are bad. Again not cracked or anything structural, but definitely takes this kit down to player’s grade. The double sided tape Gretsch used for the hoop inlays is starting to get a bit tired in a few areas. It’s not lifted off, yet, but it’s a bit lumpy in about 3 or 4 places. There is a spot of adhesive residue on the inside of the batter side kick hoop. One tiny area of chrome loss on the edge of a kick hoop. 1 micro scratch near the cymbal mount. One of the wrap seams is lifting a bit. 13 cast hoop has one thin and about 4 inch long section where the chrome isn’t perfect (shown in detail in a photo). True to form for plenty of Gretsch from the era, all shells are a bit oversized. The heads seat fine with some light effort, but a classic reason “Modern Vintage” and “Classic Fit” heads were created. Shells are perfectly in round just oversized by modern standards. 1960’s GRETSCH GOLD SATIN FLAME DRUM SET-SWEEEEET! Rare and getting very hard to find complete sets. If you’re playing jazz, then this is “THE” set! Vintage Name Band drum set with round badges and close serial numbers. Wrap is above average, without excessive cracks or wear, and down tight on all the drums all around the shells. Snare Drum: 14×5 all original. Rack Tom 9×13 all original. Floor Tom: 16×16 Model#4418. Bass Drum: 14×20 Model#4249. Serial#45139-All original except missing one original bass drum hoop. The bass drum telescoping cymbal stand is included. No snare stand included. The wrap is in very good condition. Some wear from use, but not too bad considering these wraps don’t usually hold up well. I’d say the wrap is above average, with bright color and flames, and down tight around the shells. Hard to find these drums and with close serial numbers. The metal is clean and shiny-good looking drums with Tony Williams black dots. He liked those black dot heads. Pick-up is always an option. Here a great example of a kit that took the lugs and hardware from American made drum sets of the day. Looks like Slingerland Lugs and Stick Saver hoopes. There are no signs of a badge on any of the drums. They are luan mahogany shells with re-rings. The chrome will clean up nice only minor surface haze. The two things that impress me with these drums are the condition of the wrap and the way the drums sound with some tuning. A nice kit to play and look at. Came from a Jazz player. Back to the wrap there are some pulls on the bass drum by the lugs but the seams are tight and the wrap secure on all the drums. The bass drum has two base ball bat style tuning lugs that one ear is broke off they still work fine. The sizes are 22”by 14” bass drum 13”by 9” rack tom 14” by 5” snare and a 16” by 16” floor tom. The heads seem to be the original with felt strips. The bass drum hoopes seem to be a light silver pearl I think because the WMP wrap was applied to the black hoopes. And on of the bass drum spurs (the part that goes through the shell) is short and will need a replacement. Snare stand and bass drum cymbal mount included. I must confess that if my wife would allow my personal drum room at home to overflow into the rest of the house I would be proud to display and play this kit. They are just an awesome example of our drum set history and so much more. With your help someone suggested they are a kit made in the early 60s built by Pearl.
