Many drummers will agree that Noble & Cooley drums are “The Best of the Best” when it comes to American-made drums. This Horizon kit is a beautiful example of how drums should be made. The “Cairo Blue” hi-gloss lacquer finish has to be seen to be believed; it’s a blue sparkle with dimensional, or “flip-flop, ” sparkles added to make it one of the coolest finishes I’ve ever seen. All of the photos were taken in natural light. And the sound – the inner ply of mahogany gives the tone just a bit of mellowing and and extra low-end. The sizes are traditional – 22×14, 8×12, 9×13, 16×16 – and the snare is a 4.75×14. This kit is fitted with chrome-plated brass hoops; these are the original hoops that I specified for the kit. The drums are in excellent condition; they were kept inside the house all of the time, in hard cases, and taken out only a few times for playing – no gigs with this kit. I don’t see any dents or scratches – but if you take a magnifying glass to it, I’m sure some very light marks will show up somewhere. Included in this listing: the 5 drums listed above. The original Noble & Cooley isolation mounts for the toms (pictured). And one set of floor tom legs (original Noble & Cooley; not pictured). No other items are included.

Unlike traditional cross plies, the horizontal orientation allows the shell to resonate more uniformly, like a steam bent shell. The softer inner ply adds a dark tonal quality creating a vintage tone while maintaining the sonic fidelity associated with the Noble & Cooley name. Originally introduced in the 1980s and used to create the samples for Vintage Superior Drummer, these drums became legendary. We responded to customer interest in vintage tones and recently introduced a revitalized version for todays drummer. With updated lugs, enhanced venting, Cool Mounting Brackets.
