DW Collectors Series 9-piece Drum Set – Includes Edge Snare and Unique Gong Drum! I’ve recently gone to a smaller drum set and need to find a good home for this beautiful custom DW drum kit! It has a different badge and DW True Hoops and is slightly darker in color, but the shell was pitch-matched to the kit by DW in the factory so it blends with the kit perfectly. These drums have been taken out for a few shows and recording sessions (well-protected in hard shell cases), but have spent most of their time in my smoke-free home studio. There are no flaws other than minor wear, but then this finish is known to be practically indestructible! Rack toms: 7×8, 8×10, 9×12, 10×14. Floor toms: 13×13, 16×16. Bass drum: 18×20 – with an Evans EMAD system. Snare drum: 7×13 Edge Series – brass/maple shell. This sale is for the drums only; no stands or cases are included. Candy Apple Red, only offered in 1985/86, and as a special order through the end of’87! This features all the CORRECT sizes to Neil’s set of that era: Concert Toms: 6″ x 5.5, 8″ x 5.5, 10″ x 6.5, 12″ x 8. The 6″ and 8″ have the CORRECT low boy rims too! “Closed” Toms: 12″ x 8, 13″ x 9, 15 x 12. The 12″ is a converted concert tom, hence the concert tom badge instead of the “T badge. Floor Tom: 18″ x 16 Snare Drum: 14″ x 5 Basses: 24″ x 14 (two) Gong Bass Drum: 20″ (22 Head) x 14 Also included: Simmons Pads (Quantity = 4), with SDS9 Brain module. Simmons 20 Watt Electronic Drum amplifier. Converted Floor Tom 18″ x 16 for back side of drum set, and a Artwood Birch Snare 14″ x 6.5 Drums are, for the most part, in really nice condition. Very few marks on the toms, a little bit of rash on top of the basses where the toms have rubbed. Chrome is also nice, very little rust. Includes all original tom mounts and tension rods, and lugs. All tom mounting hardware is included, as seen in the pictures, except for the two snare drum stands are not included. The Simmons Electronic pads have no tom arms, but they accept Pearl tom arms, which can be found anywhere. The 12 Closed tom was converted from a concert tom. Bearing edges were cut on the bottom, sounds nice though. You can notice when looking at the inside of the tom that it was cut in a couple of places. The Timbale was cut down from a power tom. It features gong bass lugs, so that the head/rim is oversized by an inch. The Gong Bass was painted at a body shop to match the Candy Apple Red. I did the interior of that shell, so it’s not a perfect match if you look very closely, but it still looks terrific. The Floor Tom was converted to a bass drum at Columbus Pro Percussion. The hoops are not originally Tama’s, and the paint job on those hoops are not a perfect match, as you can see in the pictures. The Snare drum in that 5 depth is hard to find, let alone in Candy Apple Red. I will take a return, but only of the item is received “NOT AS DESCRIBED”. I’m not a music store, so I don’t plan to operate like one. If the cymbal isn’t what you thought it would be, that’s on you. I won’t accept a return because you don’t like how it sounds, period. The drums are as follows one ballad snare which has the three position snare strainer which was special order at the time this set was made. Next is a 9 by 12 rack tom. A 22 inch head bass drum. A 20 inch shell gong bass. A 14 and a 16 inch floor tom. They are curly maple veneer with inlaid walnut trees and maple shells. A similar set was at one of the NAMM shows for a reference. The hardware is black nickle and all rims are solid black. They have been babied to the extreme. There is a layer of dust on the rack tom which is what you are seeing. I will possibly add the remaining pictures available as time permits. If you can afford them that’s fine. If you can’t then lack of funds on your part does not constitute a bargain price on my part. Set was made around 2010. I have at last count six or so sets of drums and at this point in life that is a few too many. Hear me now and believe me later…….
