Some minor wrap peel under bass drum not noticeable when set up I did superglue it back down see pix. Other than that it looks and sounds great has general wear from use. NOT A MUSEUM PIECE. BASS HEAD IS NOW PORTED AND CLEAR GORILLA Tape USED ON BOTTOM OF BASS TO HOLD LIFTING WRAP NOT PICTURED AGAIN ONE MORE TIME THIS IS NOT A MUSEUM PIECE ITS A VERY NICE LOOKING PLAYERS KIT LOOK AT PIX SEE FOR YOURSELF. I put repro badges on it. I did NOT rewrap this came with anniversary badges that I removed one 12 tom has a hole with no badge. Bass drum had some wrap lifting. I superglued it down. I added clear gorilla tape to hold it down also ported the bass head neither is pictured. It’s not perfect but is not seen.

Here’s a Downbeat that won’t break the bank. 14″ x 20″ Bass drum, Transition Badge and someone drilled a center mount. I carefully filled and replaced. You can’t see it from 10′ away, but it’s there under the consolette mount. 14″ x 14″ floor tom. 1969 and Keystone Badge 697907. Someone drilled extra holes below the leg mounts, but I carefully filled and they are behind the legs so not really visible. Knob type damper and includes legs. 8″ x 12″ rack tom Keystone Badge 345463 so 1966. Has baseball dampner and COS hoops. 5″ x 14″ Pioneer snare with Transition badge with nickel over brass hoops. WFL P83 throw off and P32 WFL butt plate, knob type damper, all period correct. I polished the wrap and it’s not so yellow but now smooth. I’ve been restoring drums for many years and even with a 10 year difference, they really match! Evans Calftone heads on all and brand new. I wanted an authentic and low volume sound for this kit. Wrap is tight on all drums and will include consolette mount, floor tom legs and WFL snare stand. Check my feedback and many thanks! I’ve done this sucessfully all over the world.

From the 1960s, Keystone badges. Super popular and hard to find 20, 12, 14 inch diameter size drums. The drums are in excellent/exceptional original condition. Original WMP finish in amazing condition — not yellowed or faded as is the case with many of these older WMP kits. Beautiful finish, no added holes in the shells. Tight seams no lifting. No cracking or checking in the wrap finish. Rich and even color on all drums. No differentiation in color between drums. All drums have their original factory white interiors. All pieces predate the hyper-production years of Ludwig prior to Ringo/The Beatles. Original Ludwig heads : reso in VG+ / batter in G+ condition. NEAR-MINT TO MINT CONDITION. The legs appear to be custom as they are slightly longer than even the typical long Ludwig legs (and out of the entire kit the legs show the most wear due to this length as the legs have been tightened below the knurled portions).

Ludwig 1966 OYSTERBLACK PEARL DOWNBEAT Kit. 12 / 14 / 20/ + 14in Snare. This drum kit has been in my family since it was new. It is in remarkable shape. These drums sound incredible. Here are the details. 12×8 Tom- Badge # 301709. 14×14 Tom- Badge # 301128. This drum has a minor issue with the reinforcing ring on the top. It is minor and does not affect thesound of the drum. The bearing edge is ok. 20×14 Bass Drum- Badge #301793. 5×14 Snare- Badge # 312580. Snares have been changed to puresound. New heads on the toms and bass drum. Coated ambassadors on the top and clear on the bottom. Snare drum batter head had a little use. Still has some life. Bass drum hoops have been painted. I never had the Black Oyster inlay for these. I will include the original front bass drum head and the original T lugs. Includes floor tom legs, bass drum spurs and wrench for tommount. I do not have the cymbal arm that goes on the bass drum. For sale is a sweet little Ludwig Downbeat kit in a beautiful Pink Champagne wrap. This particular kit has the rail consolette set up for a Left handed player from the factory. Overall the kit is in really nice shape with minimal cosmetic wear for a kit of this age. Bearing edges are good and untouched from factory. The wrap seams are flat but will need a dab of regluing as will the bottom section of one of the bass drum inlay. The heads on the 12 can be a little snug, but modern heads fit and it tunes up nicely. Don’t let the sizes fool you, this kit will tune up for incredible bop sounds, as well as tune down for mean rock sounds. 8″x 12″ mounted tom. 14″x 14″ floor tom. 14″x 20″ bass drum.

Made famous by Ringo Starr of The Beatles, Ludwig’s Downbeat in Oyster Black Pearl is one of the most iconic drum sets of all time. The 20″, 14″, 12 sizes are versatile–small enough for jazz but large enough for rock. The 3-ply maple/poplar/mah0gany shells with roundover bearing edges produce a warm, round sound and the maple inner ply (as opposed to mah0gany from Ludwig’s earlier years) adds a little to their projection. This kit gives a timeless look and sound that work well for so many playing styles. Don’t miss out! Please note this kit is a re-wrap and rehabilitation project of a black diamond pearl kit that I found with most of its wrap peeled off already. Brand new wrap from Jammin Sam. Excellent hardware; all original hardware except for a new Canopus baseball bat muffler. Very good shell; original bearing edges, fresh coat of color-matched white paint, some pieces of the mah0gany outer ply had been peeled off when I found it–likely when the previous owner removed the old wrap, the wrap covers it up and it does not affect sound nor tuning. Excellent heads; new Remo Ambassador coated batter and Yamaha single-ply clear resonant. Excellent hardware; all original except for a 1980s Ludwig triple-flanged hoop on one side. Very good shell; original bearing edges, fresh coat of color-matched white paint, minor ply separation repaired with wood glue and clamps, slightly untrue bearing edges which is typical for Ludwigs of this age and can be fixed if you want to do that. Very good heads; new Remo Ambassador coated batter and Evans Genera Resonant. Brand new wrap from Jammin Sam on drum and hoops. Ludwig Downbeat Drum Set. 1964 Black Diamond Pearl. The wrap has EXTREMELY LIGHT to NO fade/darkening. ALL PIECES ARE IN COLLECTOR CONDITION. Ardware has been polished with Simichrome polish. The wrap has been polished with NOVUS 1 + 2 and it is extremely smooth with a few very light scratches remaining. BEARING EDGES ARE CLEAN AND THE SHELLS ARE IN THE ROUND. THE WRAPS FOLLOW THE SEAMS INTO THE SCARF JOINTS. 8×12 RACK TOM #40218. Hardware very clean with some light spotting. COB hoops in excellent condition. Essentially new heads – Earthtone = batter; Aquarina Modern Vintage = batter. 14X14 FLOOR TOM #103366. Slight lift to part of the seam. Reso head = orig Ludwig in good condition; batter modern VG. 14X20 BASS DRUM #103333. Hardware in great but not perfect condition. Tom mount shows most wear of the kit.
