Ludwig Jazz Fest 5.5×14 Black Diamond Pearl Snare Drum Date stamped November 6th, 1966 Excellent condition, wrap is clean and vibrant Chrome has been cleaned but shows some wear and pitting Brand new heads and snare wires, all other hardware looks to be original One lug screw has some small cracks probably from production. The shell is stable in that area.

Awesome almost 70 year old Black Diamond Pearl drum set. 12″x22″ bass drum, 5.5×13″ Snare Drum, 8×12″ tom. Tight finish seams, good American chrome, scuffs and wear here and there commensurate with the age of this set. Not “mint”, but very well taken care of and then stored for 30+ years. One calf head on the 8×12 tom. Original era snare side head. Cool “Ludwig” script logo bass drum reso-head. P-87 Classic throw off. Original era snare wires. Chrome hardware on most parts. Nickel plating on tom mount, cowbell clamp mount, bass drum muffler. WFL cowbell mount with original era cowbell. WFL bass drum anti-creep bracket. WFL Bass Drum reso-head felt tone control. One bass drum inlay needs to be stapled back on. Bass Drum claws have “WFL” stamped in them. Appears all hoops are the original chrome over brass hoops. Shells are 3-ply mahogany with reinforcement rings. All are unpainted interiors. Date stamped 1957 with red ink. Fold out spiked bass drum spurs. Rubber crutch tips are there but will need replacing. Typical hoop / pedal rash on the batter side bass drum hoop. A couple of the Bass Drum claws have some chrome that has peeled off. I did some basic cleaning/dusting but there is plenty of room for a more detailed cleaning and polishing. This is a great little gigging kit! Bass drum and tom.

This Slingerland 12×8 black diamond pearl rack Tom is from the 1960’s. The stamp is hard to read inside, but I believe is from 1963. The rims and lugs are in nice shape and are shiny. The wrap is in great shape. Remo Weatherking Coated Emperor head on top, Remo clear Ambassador batter on bottom. The Tom sounds awesome! There is some rust on the tension rods and washers. There are two small gaps on the leading edge of the drums where the ply ends. Looks like it’s part of the manufacturing process, as it the same on the top and bottom. See pics.

Circa 48-52, not sure on the exact date as the shells on the inside have been painted. 3 Ply Mohogany Shells w/Maple Re-Rings. The Tom Mount Rail-Mount was previously moved to the top to accommodate double toms, so there is a extra drill hole that has been plugged, see photo. This is a 1964-66 Ludwig Black Diamond Pearl Drum Set. The bass drum dates to’64, and measures 22″ diameter, 14″ tall. The floor tom dates to’66, and measures 14″ x 14″. The rack tom dates to’64, and measures 13″ diameter, 9″ tall. Black Diamond Pearl is a super cool, and rare wrap. Depending on where I photo’d it from, the angle/lighting, you get difference hues of grey/black, and some green – so cool!
