For sale is a like new, never played one-of-a-kind USA Custom kit in showroom condition. Sizes are 12/14/20 bass, Satin Cadillac Green with die cast hoops and matching bass hoops with no inlay. T-rods for bass included with a second set of standard lugs. Un-drilled, virgin bass and rack tom. Floor tom has hinged diamond brackets and USA Custom legs per factory. Snare was ordered in Jan. 2021 and it took 13 months to arrive, which was this past Dec. New custom ordered Gretsch kits are running at least one year from order date! Take special note that the snare is a modern version of a matching “Max Roach” model, and the true size is 4.25×14 as Gretsch will not make a 4×14 due to snare strainer size. This is a 8-lug drum with die cast hoops and tone control and key holder. The set has brand new Remo Coated Ambassador on top, Coated Diplomat reso, and factory logo head on the bass, which also has a matching Remo Coated Ambassador instead of the the factory Powerstroke. Also will include a Fiberskyn Gretsch logo head for bthe ass reso. Set really speaks for itself and sounds incredible. Stands/cymbals/etc shown are for illustration only. Complete and original; #1 of 125 kits made. Original Gretsch COA included, signed on back by Steve Maxwell. All original mounting hardware included, as well. This fine drum set has been stored safely, in boxes, in an a/c studio. That said, I threw a different set of heads on the kit just to hear how the drums sound. Didnt want to mark up the original 125th anniversary branded heads & clamped the kick pedal very lightly, with felt towel to protect hoop. I own & use the 120th anniversary kit, along with several other bop kits. My kids need braces. So, this ones gotta go.. Excellent: Only some small marks on batter heads from previous owner. Just some dust and fingerprints. Lacquer finish is fantastic. No issues of concern that I can see. Note: I noticed tiny indentations/claw marks on the batter bass drum hoop, and some fine scratches on the tom mount. More pictures available on my Reverb page. The Holy Grail of Gretsch drum sets. 1955 vintage 3-ply Gretsch Cadillac Green Birdland drum set, named after the Cadillac Green and gold plated house kit at the internationally respected Birdland jazz club in New York City. This is a very rare bird, indeed. This 22/13/16 set has had a well-documented, sympathetic restoration. No paint work has been done on this set! The thin 3-ply shells have been left original inside and out, only cleaned – no refinish or paint, inside or out. Only some hardware items have been re-plated. Drum heads fit easily. Overall, this set is highly original and in quite excellent condition. I have gigged the set carefully! And it sounds amazing. Truly, the Holy Grail of Gretsch sets – if not all American drum kits of the Fifties. Perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire and play such a kit of this condition and significance.
