Made in USA, incredibly rare finish (only made 1 year), includes 24×14 bass drum (great shape, shows some normal hoop wear, some normal wear, some oxidation, a few of the t-rods could use a bit of straightening), 16×16 floor tom (great shape, some oxidation, some normal wear), 15×12 tom drum (great shape, light wear, some oxidation), and 14×10 tom drum (great shape, light wear, some oxidation); all drums, aside from floor tom, have original “Powertone” interior tags, floor tom comes with original floor tom legs, all drums show some separation at the wrap seam, all drums are very clean, “Script Logo” drums, see pics for details. Gretsch Round Badge drums refinished in natural maple lacquer. All 60’s 6-ply Jasper maple and gum shells. 16×16: Was painted red at some point, a few flecks of red are still visible on the edges and inside. Bearing edges have been sanded and have a few small repairs but are not rerouted and have the original reverse roundover contour. Original legs, complete with no extra holes. Interior has been touched up in silver paint in a couple areas. 8×12: Had a Pearl mount installed at one point but fortunately it was totally under the original diamond plate. Holes were plugged and are invisible. Touched up silver interior, repro badge and paper tag. Bearing edges have a couple tiny touch ups and are original and excellent with reverse roundover contour. 14×20: Precision 12-ply hoops finished in varnish. Complete with Pratt muffler, repro badge and repro rail mount that works perfectly. A few lugs have chrome wear but I made sure those were installed on the bottom. Non-factory spurs, the brackets are original. Bearing edges are excellent, interior 30-degree, nice and sharp. All claws, backing screws, wing bolts, rims and tension rods are era-correct Gretsch. The shells have 8 coats of lacquer and varnish (not polyurethane). I did the finish myself so it’s not as glossy as a factory or auto body job, but they look great nonetheless. And they sound fantastic like any Round Badge drums. Because these were originally wrapped drums, they fit modern heads with no problem whatsoever. Videos: The kit can be heard here. This is a late 70s or early 80s Gretsch drum set. Sizes are 12×8, 16×16 and 22×14. These are the highly desired Jasper shells. The natural finish has aged to a nice golden color. Drums are in good condition. The 12 and 16 tom have the drop G Stop Sign badges and the bass drum has the square badge. There is some light pitting and wear on the hardware, as can be expected on a kit of this age. Bearing edges are in great condition. I had the bearing edges re-done on the 12 tom due to the originals having high spots. Typical quality issues from the factory around this time period of manufacture. A previous owner had an incorrect RIMS type mount on the 12 tom and the mount rubbed into the finish of the tom. As you know, the Gretsch 12 tom has 5 lugs, as opposed to most other manufacturers that have 6 lugs. As a result, the RIMS band needs to be a little longer. Doesnt affect the sound, its more cosmetic. The correct Gretsch sized RIMS mount is included and covers this damage. All of the drums sound great. The mufflers for the floor tom and the bass drum are included. I had removed the mufflers on the floor tom. The 12 tom never had a muffler installed. There are no extra holes in any of the drums. The 2 holes in the bass drums batter hoop are from a cyclops bass drum anchor that was installed from the factory when the bass drum was made. Unfortunately, I do not have this piece and do not need it. Original tom mount is included. There are some plier marks on the tension screw of the tom mount from a previous owner. They are not bad, but wanted to make you aware. There are some light finish marks on the drums from being used, but not abused. There is a Kelly Shu mic mount in the bass drum that is NOT included in the sale.
