Gretsch USA 5-pc Drumset, Black Glass Glitter. This is a used set of five Gretsch USA drums that recently came into our shop on trade. Drums and hardware are fully functional and in very good overall condition. Additional details are as follows. Sizes are 8×10 and 8×12 mounted toms, 13×15 and 14×16 floor toms, 18×22 bass (sizes are depth x diameter in inches). Professionally re-wrapped Black Glass Glitter finish. Non-original tom-arm bracket on bass drum. Double tom arm bracket itself is Gretsch but one of the L-arms has been replaced. Natural maple hoops may or may not be original. We’re not sure. Original badges were re-installed after the drums were re-wrapped. Bass style matches on all drums. Lots of non-original bits & pieces: backing screws, tension rods, etc. Floor tom legs are original Gretsch. All shells have gray painted interiors. Bearing edges are in good shape. Based on the interior labels, the shells are likely from different eras and not manufactured in the same year. All heads are used but in good shape. Tom heads are mismatched (Remo Clear Pinstripes on 12 and 15, Evans Coated G2 on 10 and 16). Vintage Ludwig 5-Pc Drumset, Red Sparkle, 1960s. This is a fantastic vintage Ludwig 5-pc drumset that recently came into our shop on trade. Included are a 14×22″ bass drum with double tom arm, 16×16″ floor tom with legs, 9×13″ and 8×12″ mounted toms, and a 5×14 Supraphonic snare drum. All of the drums date to the 1960s (we believe 1966 based on badge numbers and interior stamp in the snare). All of the drums also appear to be all original. We consider this to be a very good condition “players” kit and not necessary a “collector’s” kit. The drumset is fully functional, sounds and looks great, but there are a few aesthetic issues that keep us from putting it in the excellent category. Please continue below for details about each individual drum. Wrap is clean and vivid with only typical age-appropriate signs of use (scuffs, scratches, and small dings). Bearing edges are in very good condition. There are some indications that the interior was repainted at some point, but if so, it was quite a long time ago. There is no interior date stamp. All hardware is completely functional but displays signs of age and use, including scuffs, scratches, and some pitting. Double tom arm is in good condition and is fully functional. Both the batter and audience side heads are used. Both hoops show quite a bit of wear, including scuffs, scratches, dings, indentions. The inlay is damaged or missing in a couple spots on the batter side hoop. Badge number is slightly difficult to read but appears to be 336718. Bearing edges and re-rings are in very good condition. Baseball bat internal muffler is in place and functions as designed. Both the batter and audience side heads are new. Badge number is slightly difficult to read but appears to be 327805. Bearing edges and re-rings on the batter side are in very good condition. There is an issue on the reso side bearing edge where the drum was played for a time without a bottom head or rim and the bearing edge appears to have rubbed against a floor tom leg, which caused part of the bearing edge to be “ground” away (see pics). Badge number is slightly difficult to read but appears to be 327595. Badge number is slightly difficult to read but appears to be 326336. 5×14 Supraphonic Snare Drum. Exterior is quite corroded with lots of scuffs, scratches, and pitting in the chrome. Date stamp reads AUG 29 1966. Vintage Late-70s Slingerland 5-Pc. This is a fantastically HUGE set of vintage late-70s Slingerlands in excellent, fully functioning condition. All-original except for the reso head on the 14 mounted tom (which was replaced with a Remo coated Ambassador), this drumset features a very clean, very tight black wrapped finish, snug and secure Niles badges (badge serial numbers listed below), 5-ply shells, like-new internal mufflers on all toms (but not on the bass drum), and chrome hardware. Included are 10×14″ and 12×15″ mounted toms (all sizes are depth x diameter), 16×18″ and 18×20″ floor toms with four legs each, and a 14×24 bass drum with four anchoring spurs and double-tom mount. Note: Although we can’t find this exact configuration in Slingerland’s catalogs, it is similar to their late-70s “Classic Rock Outfit” but with larger toms (that setup was 13/14″ mounted with 16/18″ floors). As a used rig, expect to find typical age-appropriate signs use and storage, including light scuffs and scratches on the wrapped finish, a bit of rust and corrosion on the chrome, bolt indentions in the post of the double-tom mount where it’s been tightened over the years, significant wear on the batter heads, pedal rash on the player’s side bass drum hoop, a few worn-through feet on the floor tom legs, and some dust and fingerprints here and there. That said, all of these drums are impressively clean for their age, original reso heads on all but the 14 tom are almost untouched (see photos for an example), interiors are immaculate, bearing edges are smooth, and all threaded components function as designed. Vintage 1970s Slingerland 5-Pc. Drumset in Black Chrome Wrap. This is a great-looking set of 1970s Slingerlands in black chrome wrap with a steel/chrome snare. This set is in very good “player’s” condition and could be taken to a gig as soon as it arrives! It still has all original hardware and hoops and includes a 5×14″ snare drum, 8×12″ and 9×13″ mounted toms, a 16×16″ floor tom, and a 14×22 bass drum. (all sizes are Depth x Diameter). Here’s a rundown of specific details about each component. 5×14 Snare Drum – This is a steel drum with chrome finish. It has original hardware and stick-saver rounded hoops. Heads have recently been replaced with an Evans coated G1 on the batter and an Evans Snare Side 300 on the bottom. Snare wires have also been recently replaced. The front/audience side head is an original Slingerland black dot that looks like it was probably used as a batter head at some point. The mounting plate for the Set-O-Matic tom arm is secure with no stripping. Serial number is 240615. There are no apparent stamps or markings on the interior of the shell.
