I bought them used, but in the 10 years Ive had these I never cleaned them with anything, only dusted off with a static feather type duster. I gigged them only a couple times, and at outdoor venues, no smoke filled bars… They sound Awesome, Big Boom for Rock, and can also be played lightly and sound crisp and with great clarity of sound.. I show the Toms Mounted far apart for complete view in the pics, but they can be hung/ turned in any direction, for tight position and lower or higher to suit your choice. I took the Bass Hoops off to show the edges, and you can see they are perfect with only some dirt from under the Hoops. No Cracks have been seen on any of the shells. If you take off all the Hardware and Clean/Polish these shells they will look like new. Tom Heads are well used but playable, the Bass Head is an unused Remo Ambassador. Additional Info From the Web. Zickos (acrylic) are the first ever commercially-produced plastic drum kits. Rare, American Made, Acrylic Drums with a Better build quality than Ludwig Vistalite. Bill Zickos was a big band jazz drummer who owned a music store in Kansas City, USA, during the 1950s. Towards the end of the 50s he started to experiment with making plastic drums, but it was 1969 before he got his first big name convert, Ron Bushy of Iron Butterfly. Zickos shaped his shells by hand in molds after heating them in a pizza type industrial oven. Some critics say that by baking the acrylic, rather than pulling them into cylinders, gave the Zickos kits their clarity. The unusual design of the rack tom holders allowed shells to resonate, sending the vibrations down the tube to the bass drum, which in concert with the rack toms gave the kit such a presence in any room. Both tom holders were specifically cut in different lengths which helped with tuning the twin rack toms within a 4rd of each other. The Zickos kit sounded unlike any modern acrylic kit on the market. Zickos kits were known for their Clarity of sound, deep Bass, and sturdy construction, especially around the seams.
