Beautiful complete set of Slingerland Radio Kings, 14″snare, 13″ 16″Toms, and 24″Bass Drum w original calf skin heads, from circa 1952. The snare drum is a Nashville re-issue with Slingerland engraved in hoop just dripping with chrome. Lugs have been swapped out on this 1994 Gibson era re-issue steam bent solid shell snaredrum, with streamlined lugs in order to match rest of kit. Three-ply shells with big reinforcement hoops on remaining 3 Drums from the 50s when craftsmanship reigned supreme. There is just something about the Radio King drums that gives them an ooomph that contemporary drums just don’t have. These drums have big overtones. Big band drummers made the sound a standard back in the day since it was what everybody was hearing, it became what everybody Wanted to hear. Maybe that is why so many recording studios have old Radio Kings as their house kit! These drums have the usual aged patina, (slight Yellowing) appropriate for their vintage and the nickle plating on the Floor tom and the Bass drum hardware could use some TLC. Or you could just play them as I did and just enjoy that Big Fat Sound the way they are!
