The Holy Grail of Gretsch drum sets. 1955 vintage 3-ply Gretsch Cadillac Green Birdland drum set, named after the Cadillac Green and gold plated house kit at the internationally respected Birdland jazz club in New York City. This is a very rare bird, indeed. This 22/13/16 set has had a well-documented, sympathetic restoration. No paint work has been done on this set! The thin 3-ply shells have been left original inside and out, only cleaned – no refinish or paint, inside or out. Only some hardware items have been re-plated. Drum heads fit easily. Overall, this set is highly original and in quite excellent condition. I have gigged the set carefully! And it sounds amazing. Truly, the Holy Grail of Gretsch sets – if not all American drum kits of the Fifties. Perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire and play such a kit of this condition and significance.
