GMS Ash Custom Special Edition Kit in Chestnut Burst Finish. Its killing me to sell this limited edition kit- GMS cant make it anymore because the Hard Ash Keller VSS shells take 2 years to make and require huge orders. So I have to sell it to finance a smaller kit. Ive had this kit for about 5 years and never ever gigged with it. The satin oil finish is in almost perfect shape. Youll find 1 or 2 minor bump or scrapes on each drum but youll have to look hard before you find them. The stain oil finish is not easily scratched like a clear coat. It also lets the grain of the ash stay raised so it feels nice and natural in your hands. The unique hard ash shell sounds super punchy and warm. The kick is not boomy (even with full heads on both sides) its controlled and woody while having enough flexibility for any type of rock, funk, R&B, hip-hop, fusion jazz, big band jazz, country, pop or metal. I think the only thing its not intended for small combo jazzbut if youre great at head selection and tuning, then you can definitely make it work for that as well. Closest kit in terms of sound is Yamaha Beech Custom. But this one looks way more beautiful. My favorite feature (besides the sound) is the Yamaha tom mount hardware (by far the best in the world). Its super stable no drift! , never a rattle, and incredibly compact. You can mount both toms and a cymbal arm (which can do 2-3 cymbals if you want) on the bass drum so you can show up to a gig or rehearsal with no cymbals stands and you can carry the kit on stage with minimal adjustments. Its a big deal. I have had other sets with all virgin shells- the Yamaha hardware allows full sustain in comparison. It has zero effect on the shell in my opinion. Its a used kit so its not perfect- theres a light bump and scrap on each drum- but unless youre really anal, youll find this kit to be in excellent condition with no substantial blemishes. The heads all have more life in them but youll probably want to change them to match the sound youre looking for. My sound is kind of 70s punchy/dry. 10x 7.25 mounted tom. 12 x 7.5 mountedtom. 14 x 11.5floor tom. 22 x 17 bassdrum.
