DW Drum Workshop Maple 6 Piece Drum Set in Blue Swirl. Made in the United States circa the late 1980s, early 1990s. These sets were the flagship line of DW drums produced back then and although they are not technically “Collector’s series” they are the same grade as the Collector’s series drums. Many drummers who know DW history regard the gold on black badge era to be the best quality in DW drum making history before they cut costs to go into mass-production. This set was the house set for the House of Blues in Los Angeles, California for the last few decades so there is bound to be some known and unknown music history behind this set. 100% Keller maple shells. Reinforcement rings on all drums!! The drum heads are some use on them. The snare drum head has a brand new Remo head on it and the toms have used Remo heads on them with plenty of life left over. The bass drum has a nice Aquarian super kick and Aquarian resonant head. All drums are serial number matched and came out of the factory as a single set. The bass drum batter-side hoop exhibits some moderate foot pedal rash. The wrap on both bass drum hoops are in ok shape but its obvious the drums are close to 30 years old. Some of the wrap on the bass drum is very slightly coming undone at the seems. Can probably be glued very easily. Its very hard to notice though. There is a small gash at the bottom of the bass drum in the interior of the shell. I put a quarter next to it to compare the size. Its not too big or deep but the opposite exterior side of the bass drum has slightly cracked the wrap because of it. It looks like it barely splintered through but none of it is protruding out from the other side. I took a picture of the other side too. Minor cosmetic issue only. The wrap on some of the toms has cracked slightly in area. See pictures, its barely noticeable but it is happening. The wrap on the snare drum is in really nice shape for its age. The toms and bass drum were marked “HOB” for House of Blues on the interior of the shells with sharpie. The bass drum and 8 tom has aftermarket air vent grommets. They look fine and function fine. One of the four rubber rings on the 12 tom STM mount is missing. The 14 tom has an aftermarket bracket attached to its STM mount. Its functions perfectly fine. All of the above mentioned are strictly cosmetic imperfections that don’t effect the performance of this set at all. Having said that, I have priced this set accordingly to the aforementioned cosmetic imperfections. Please keep in mind this set is close to 30 years old most likely. 8″ x 7″ mounted tom. 10″ x 8″ mounted tom. 12″ x 9″ mounted tom. 14″ x 11″ mounted tom. 20″ x 18″ virgin bass drum. 13″ x 5″ snare drum.
