This is a one of a kind DW Collector Series 7 piece Drum Set with’Birds Eye’ Maple Shells belonging to John Wicks of Fitz and The Tantrums. They are a custom made prototype originally made for the Porcaro family designed to sound like 60’s and 70’s Gretsch Drums. The shells are made out of a Maple / Gum Material’ that was used in that era. There are no reinforcement hoops which are traditionally on most DW kits. DW’s reinforcement hoops are made to make the drum ring out for a longer period of time, this was not used back then, so they chose to not use them to try and get the most accurate sound possible. There are also upgraded Die Cast hoops. John Wicks has used this kit on numerous recording sessions at countless studios, and it has always had the best reaction from engineers and musicians.
